The hotdogs are terrific, and not overly salty and the homemade relish is amazing. I bought 2 jars of relish to take home. The menu is simple hotdogs and hamburgers and ice cream. There are no fries, but you can buy a small bag of potato chips. We like sitting at the counter, meeting those that drop in and the wait person is a friendly gal. It is cash only.

Stopped at this Classic Connecticut Hotdog restaurant over the weekend. This place features simple menu of hotdogs, burgers and chips. No fried food.
The grilled hotdog was very flavorful. Tried their hot pepper relish on dog which was excellent but beware it is on the hot side. So if spicy isn’t your thing I would skip the relish.
Prices were inexpensive. Service was good. Would definitely go back again.

Blackie’s Hot Stand offers a delightful taste of classic American fare with their delicious burgers and hot dogs. During my recent visit, I enjoyed a perfectly grilled burger and a savory hot dog that hit the spot. The standout feature, however, was their exceptional relish—a perfect blend of sweetness and tanginess that elevated the flavors of both dishes. I couldn’t resist taking home a jar of their relish to enjoy later. The atmosphere at Blackie’s is casual and welcoming, making it a great spot for a quick and satisfying meal. If you appreciate quality comfort food and flavorful condiments, Blackie’s Hot Stand is definitely worth a visit.

They should steam or warm the buns. Girl never informed me about the famous relish on the counter and I couldve walked right out without having it. It was tasty must have oil in it. I prefer hot dogs with snap to it but it was tasty. Should definitely warm the buns though it takes away from it.

Always make sure to stop by Blackie’s when we are visiting the area. Just happy we were there for a few days and not on a Friday! Had the dogs with a birch with mustard and the fantastic relish. Also stocked up on some relish to take back home. Nothing comes close to this back in Florida.

A colleague of mine has been coming here since he was a kid. It is all he talks about in the office. I found myself at work trip in New Haven, a quick drive up and I was here. I found myself have two, three, six hot dogs! Make sure to make your way here if you are along the way.

This 65 year old, was eating Blackies hot dogs, at 7, living on Hollis dr, down the street.
Still remember it being, the Very Best, not the same, the Spicy hot was my Favorite.
The Big boys, all came to Try, to buy the Recipes,
No 🎲 Game Stays Home, in your Table !

Great hotdogs, relish makes it great. 5 to go is my order. Don't look for fries though you can get chips. A must stop for any travelers.

While visiting relatives and friends you have to stop by for a few dogs. Just like when ordering a cheese steak in Philly there's a right way to order at Blackies. For me it's Two and a cheese, a small birch and chips. 90 years in business and still killing it. It's all about the relish, go enjoy but ask someone beforehand how to order. I can't believe that this place has been in business for so long and gets such great reviews. The hot dogs are small and the rolls are cheap. There is no sauerkraut, no chili, no fries, no onions or onion rings. What's the attraction here, the relish? I'm not going back, but a lot of people will and I don't know why.
