Overall, a great experience. Service was attentive and professional. This is a classic steakhouse. Ribeye ($56) was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Also, barely any salt, just pure flavor. Filet mignon ($54) was outstanding; was tender and melted like butter.
For sides, roasted potatoes were very good; Mac cheese lacked flavor.
Dessert, crème brûlée was big enough for 3 and also very good.
Prices are on the high side, but overall, a great experience.

Last evening we celebrated a special birthday with the most wonderful porterhouse steak, crispy home fries and creamed spinach, and incredible apple strudel. Adding to all this were very attentive waiters who also make great cocktails and sing Frank Sinatra and Happy Birthday. We highly recommend this gem of a place for any special occasion.

A gem in Downtown Bridgeport. Our group of 4 shared a salad, 2 ribeyes, and sides. All perfectly prepared and delicious. Ordered steak medium rare and it was actually medium rare. Service was friendly and impeccable. My only complaint is they need to update their listing on Open Table. We were expecting outdoor seating and were told they no longer offer it.

I really wanted to be able to give a better review, but after taking a few days after we dined to not have a knee jerk reaction, I settled on the two stars. To start off the restaurant was not very busy so there is no excuse for a lack of service. While we dined it almost felt like if we were an inconvenience. Our server barely recognized us and barely even spoke with us. We went to celebrate my son’s birthday but he wouldn’t have known because he barely spoke with us. For starters we placed an order for the thick bacon. I was sort of shocked to have the bacon served to us in several pieces as opposed to just the slab of bacon being brought to the table. It was already pre-cut. For our entrees we ordered the Porterhouse for two and a order of lamb chops. Everything was cooked at the right temperature but the steak was just average. When I go to a steakhouse, I am not upset to pay at a premium but I do expect the steak to be better than just average. My girlfriend enjoyed her lamb chops. For our sides we had the Mac-n-cheese, French fried and creamed spinach. The sides were fine with the exception of the creamed spinach. The creamed spinach was more on the brown side rather than green. To end the evening we had dessert, I ordered the Creme brûlée which was cold and just not that good. Overall, I was not shocked at the tab at the end of the meal because I expected it to be expensive but the overall experience and the food just did not seem to match the pricy tab.

Made reservations for two for a birthday on a Saturday evening . When we arrived we were placed in the bar and when I told them I was unhappy they could care less . Very noisy and the table was as big as a postage stamp ! We were very disappointed and won’t be going back .

I called to book a family dinner at Joseph’s. On calling was asked to hold then heard a conversation between two of the staff when one asked the other if he should hang up. The call was then disconnected. If this is the way the imbeciles who work here treat customers then they have lost my business forever.

After a full day of meetings, we were looking a good dinner and selected Joseph's Steakhouse. Located in downtown Bridgeport, the atmosphere reminded me of a classic New York City Steakhouse. Some walls were wood others were brick.
We were seated promptly. Our waiter was classic New York, personable and informative. He shared with us a bit of restaurant history. Joseph's is a reflection of the historic Peter Lugar's in NYC.
We ordered the classic Ribeye and Sirloin steaks. They were fantastic!!!
If you cannot get to NYC, get to Bridgeport.

Finally after 20 years!! Delicious steak and sides. À la cart is the way of the menu here and boy is it expensive. It was a treat for my sister for my birthday and boy did I savor each moment of it. Clean, ample seating professional waiter and top-notch. That said I’ll probably never be able to afford this again ha ha!! A must go at least once in your life. Parking lot is to the left of the building.

I have been dining at Joseph's for over 20 years and have enjoyed well over 100 meals with business associates, friends and family in large and small groups. Most recently a pre-Christmas dinner with long time friends/Joseph's fans.
As the menu has not changed much over time we always order the best apps and mains they serve: Apps - the bacon is their go to starter - yes amazing grilled slab bacon with their home made steak sauce is always the first choice, along with Crab meat and shrimp. When my wife and I go the bacon salad is a bit more healthy alternative - and they don't skimp on the bacon.
Mains - Joseph's best steaks are the Bone-in Ribeye and Bone in Filet (always a special or ask for it). Steak on the bone is most flavorful and Josephs has the top cuts. Order these steaks cut up so they can be shared - this also provides everyone with the pieces they want. We are rare to rare + carnivorous and when the meat comes out hot on the plate it is served with hot melted butter by the seasoned professional waiters.
Sides are also a must - starting with delicious and decadent creamed spinach plus onions, mushrooms and home fries. If you are up for it they also have fresh Maine lobster tails which pair well with the Steak. There is always plenty to take home for later.
The bar serves excellent and generous drinks - as a good steakhouse should. The wine list is good but not over the top. The Beringer Knights valley is our go to cab for the meal.
If you are looking for a high level NY style steak house in CT - in the realm of Peter Lugers, this is it. The owner of Josephs was the Maitre d at Lugers for many years. Reservations are recommended and its easy to get to from I-95 and the Merritt Pkwy

Went to Joseph's for my birthday with my wife and adult daughter. Never been there before, despite it being just 25-miles away. Wish we had discovered it earlier. From the time we walked in the door until the minute we left we felt comfortable and we were amongst old friends. Bartender was awesome; great drinks, great service and friendly and warm conversation. The restaurant has that classic NYC Steakhouse vibe - feels like it has been there 100 years. Our waiter was amazing. Skilled, professional, prompt and lots of fun as well. He helped to make our meal special. We all had the bone-in ribeye. Amazing. Best piece of steak I have had in years. I did order it Rare, Rare, Rare, really, really rare - and it was only rare, but it didn't take away from the flavor or enjoyment. Nice wine list as well. Look forward to returning.

Eating here had to be one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Service was excellent and the Porterhouse was superb. Our server Johnathon added to the evening with his comical demeanor. Will definitely return.

My recent trip to Joseph's was my second time there. I had been wanting to go back for a couple of years because my first experience there was had me dying to return.
Appetizer...I went with the tomato, fresh mozz, and basil. I had this last time as well and wanted to try it again. It absolutely was as good as I remembered it. I highly recommend this appetizer. I had a glass of Malbec to drink with the app and dinner and it paired perfectly.
Dinner...we had the porterhouse for two. I love the scalding hot plates that come out and the sizzling steak that is cooked to perfection. I am one who does not like meat over seasoned and I like it with it's natural flavor. It was entirely worth it.
Dessert...I had the cheesecake. It was not house made, but that did not matter. It was the best I have ever had. The cream is house made and it also was one of the top I've ever had. I had an espresso and a glass of sambuca to pair with it.
My favorite part...the service. The ambience is very old school and so is the decor. The servers not only deliver the food to your table, but also put it on your plate. I love it. Excellent service as I remembered the first time as well.
My least favorite part....the price, but you know this walking in. As much as I love this restaurant, I cannot go there often. For two people that had one app, porterhouse steak, dessert and a drink, it was a $300.00 bill after tip. It is not in my budget to eat like that so it is truly a treat when I get to go.
I do highly recommend Joseph's Steakhouse!

Porterhouse for 2 was excellent. Ther bacon was out of this world and over the top when dipped in sauce. 6 out of 5. Atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. Great experience.

I have reviewed Joseph's before. We dine there approximately 4-5 times per year and have always found the meal to be fabulous. We have been to Luger's, Keene's, Benjamin's and Joseph's is just as good, if not better. Except, unfortunately for dessert. I mentioned in the past that the cheesecake was dry and they needed to find another supplier. Well, they did, however, I have never seen such a small piece of cheese cake - I even wonder how they were able to slice it so tiny. Basically, if you are going to give large steaks - your desserts should follow and compliment the meal. So go for the steaks and as of now, skip on the dessert. Unless, of course the owner reads my review and increases the size....
