So, so happy that A Vucchella is once again open with both indoor and outdoor seating - the food remains remarkable, dedicated, quality and fresh combines with a campari to begin and then a delicious recommended sangiovese wine with dinner. My wife and I had...the antipasto with multiple varieties of meats, several cheeses, olives, and the best Italian bread in Fairfield County For our 2nd courses we shared a delicious lasagna followed by braised pork shank - FANTASTIC!! Unfortunately, there wasn't room left for the homemade tarimitsu ....I did end with a double expresso. The parking continues to be easy right on the street in front. I'll be back for lunch later in the week. A' Vucchella continues to be the best choice for Italian food in Fairfield County.More

Let me start by saying that this place is loud; brick walls, hard ceiling, with nothing to absorb the conversation of every other patron, all talking at maximum volume in order to be heard just across their own table. That said... It is a relatively...small venue, with what I can imagine is an equally small kitchen, so as others have pointed out, things run a bit slowly, but they do run efficiently. The staff is attentive and the staging of drinks, bread, appetizers and entrees makes the evening move along smoothly. This is very much old-school Italian dining, and if you are looking for a gulp-and-go experience, it is not for you. The food is fresh, well prepared and very tasty, but nothing to knock your socks off. It is, in the truest sense, a trattoria; that is a tavern with food; other cultures would call it a bistro, or pub, but the effect is the same. The place seems to be popular with the theater crowd, as by 7:30 we were one of only four tables still in the place, and the noise had subsided appreciably. We noticed that there was a constant crowd at the bar area, with cafe tables and bar stools fully occupied the entire time we were there, that is a good sign. Menu wise, fish is very popular, as was the veal and pork dishes; but the menu is varied enough that even our picky eaters were happy. I would suggest taking a look a the menu rather than rely on what we as a party ate - it was fish all around. Personally, I always go with one of the daily specials. The only disappointment I had this time was that the Escarole and Bean soup special appetizer was so popular, they had run out by the time I had a chance to order. I will call ahead and ask next time.More

The entire staff were very warm, accommodating and friendly; a real family feel. The food was superb. A slight wait for the entrees, but the quality, preparation and presentation were terrific and well worth the wait. The wine selection includes a number of regions that you...don't normally see, and is exceptionally good. A trattoria is , by nature, not the Ritz. It is more family style. If you want crystal salt and pepper shakers, New York is only a short ride away. But if you want good, well prepared genuine Italian fare, you will come away wanting to return..More

Excellent in every respect. Very nice family atmosphere. Food was excellent. Homemade pasta was great. Went on a snow Saturday so it was not very busy but we really enjoyed it. May be our go to place for Italian.

My wife and I returned to Trattoria 'A Vucchella and we were very impressed with the service, the overall ambiance and the food versus our first visit a few years ago where we rated the restaurant as very good. We were seated at the time...we reserved and greeted by the owner/manager. The appetizers, the cheese platter and the fried calamari brought us back memories of dining in Italy and my wife's spaghetti carbonara was delicious, non greasy and the pasta was cooked to perfection. My veal a la Marsala was tender and tasty, and the glasses of wine were reasonably priced and very good. We wrapped up dinner with a spumoni, coffee and anisette. Overall a wonderful, relaxing evening and Concetta was a wonderful server and all the servers did an excellent job backing each other up, we never felt unattended.More

We had dinner with friends there last night and we all thoroughly loved it. The vibe, the service, and the food were all outstanding! Pasquale, the owner was very welcoming and warm. He was genuinely interested in what we liked about sour meal which led...to a lengthy conversation about the quality of the food and why he pays extra to import certain foods he uses in the kitchen. We had salmon, bronzing and sole as well as the homemade tagliatelle and meatballs. All were really, really good, and we are all pretty fussy about our food, especially Italian! We ordered a bottle of Nebbiolo and for $48, it was outstanding too (so we had a second)! Try this wonderful restaurant and you will not be disappointed.More

Trattoria was excellent. The dining room reminds you of a traditional Italian restaurant. The service was excellent. Fresh bread and olive oil brought to the table. I upgraded to the fresh pasta was it was delicious.
