The veggie burger was nothing great. In fact, pretty awful and very disappointing. As one of the previous reviewers said, you get better tasting and cheaper frozen veggie burgers from the supermarket. Another previous reviewer suggested that someone buys Bloodroot a vegetarian cookbook. I say don't bother. They'll only destroy and convert good raw ingredients into awful, bland food that... More

I brought a work colleague who is a vegetarian and has never been here. I've not been here for over 5 years. Nothing has changed. One still orders by paying a person at a desk, turns in ones ticket to the kitchen, picks up a tray of ones food, and busses ones own table. The menu is just about the... More

Would like to set your expectations about the place. If you are looking for a luxurious/fake high service setting then this is not a place for you, same if you are looking for the new gen fad vegetarian places that are popping up everywhere. Now if you want genuinely good and honest, yet simple vegetarian good, this is the place... More

So on the plus side there was almost no one there and it was a nice casual gathering of a group of women and no one tried to rush us. The menu is extremely limited, lacks creativity, and reeks of the vegetarian vibe of the early 70s where the trend was to cook fake meat dishes using soy products. Thankfully... More

Shockingly bad food and so expensive. I don't like how the place is set up. You have to serve yourself and return your dishes after eating like at certain food court. The big difference is that you get better and more reasonably priced food at the food court. I just don't understand the those who rave about the food here.

We LOVE Bloodroot! Both Selma and Noel are 2 very cool and kind women. This restaurant is a lovely retreat. Everything about it from the quiet location with the view on the water, to the very cool feminist bookstore, to the fun, earthy and interesting decor of items and old photo's of women all along the wall to Noel's EXCEPTIONAL... First of all we love vegetarian and organic healthy food, when we visited this place we were met with some really condescending attitude. It was as if they were doing us a favor. The prices are high and the portions small but the icing on the cake was our having to serve ourselves AND clear our table!!! Then told where... More

Bloodroot is a special and valued spot by so many of my friends. We have come here for many years to experience Selma and Noel's talents as feminists, gardeners, and friends. Its openness to all makes it a marvelous spot and its lovely bookshop is truly unique.

Real food with fresh ingredients. The soup I had was perfectly seasoned and just right. The breads I sampled unbelievably good. And the chocolate cake was to die for -- you won't miss the eggs/milk one little bit. Keep it up, women!

This was our first visit to Bloodroot. The ordering process is unique and not necessarily the most efficient. You place your order at a desk towards the back of the restaurant, seat yourself and wait for your food to come out. Food was delish and we so appreciate good vegetarian food. But not completely loving the self service.

Description
This is a exceptionally unique vegetarian-vegan restaurant that was far ahead of the curve when it opened in 1977. All menu items are made in our kitchen. There is no such thing as a pre-packaged item that is micro-waved, and then served. Whether it's fresh corn in the summer or delicious home fries for Sunday brunch, it's all the genuine item.
We have a network of local farmers who provide us with seasonal produce and another network of suppliers able to provide us with additional, delicious organic items all year round.
We have one of the best vegan menus in the country. Our effort to have a taste experience ready for you is balanced with the nutritional and health benefits that comes with a authentic vegan diet.
Visit and taste.... Thanks
