Octoberfest!

I have been to Old Heidelberg several times with friends, but this time we went for Oktoberfest and it was lots of fun! They had setup lots of tables outside and a Buffett style dinner where you went up and ordered what you wanted from the line. The fest was crowded and very happy the music was... read more

All I can say is from the time we walked in, till the time we left, everything was as good as you can possibly expect, a restaurant experience to be. The owner, Alex and his staff are first rate. We found a new spot, and we'll be going there at least twice a month.

My husband and I have been going here for several years. His mother in law from his first marriage was German. The woman next door to me growing up was German so we consider ourselves knowledgeable. This place has gone downhill. We understand the place was sold to a non German and the chef was trained by the one before... More

I was impressed at the variety of German food on the menu. I recommend the Jagermeister snitzel, apple strudel and German beer. The interior makes you feel like your in Germany in an old restaurant. It's decorated nicely in a German motif. I recommend this restaurant and I will definately dine here again. The servings are very large and its... More

The restuarant itself has charm, and the waitress was extremely sweet & conscientious but the food was just bad. My $8 glass of wine was the best part of the meal. The potato pancakes were doughy, the sauerbrauten, goulash, pork shank, and schnitzel with egg on top are not recommended. Very expensive for the poor execution.

I lived in German for a few years with the military. Fell in love with the food and beer. I have searched high and low for something to bring back those memories all over the USA. Most are either hokey fake tourist traps with lame food, or the German meals are a side show to other foods. You will find... More

I was stationed in Bavaria for 8 Years and decided to try this place after about 3 years of returning to the US and living in the Danbury area. For that three years I boasted to my husband about how good German food was (he's from Ireland)... boy did I regret it my statement. We went to the Heidelberg Sunday... More

We were a party of about 15 and despite having a reservation our table was not ready so we elected to have appetizers and beers outside. Our waitress was friendly but was either way over worked or new on the job as it took ages to get all the beers and even then she couldn't remember who had ordered what.... More

My husband and I went to this pretty German Restaurant on a cool rainy evening. We were warmly welcomed, and found the menu quite extensive. We are not drinkers, so did not have the beer, but others around us, seemed to be enjoying their beverages. With the food we ordered, we were supposed to receive Spaetzel, but they substituted cold... More
