Duplicitous pricing. They add a 3% surcharge to your bill to "pay the kitchen staff". Why are there prices so high? We're all for paying staff, but this is done in a ridiculous way. They said this was standard in New York and all high end restaurants (obviously it is not). Just felt like a way to lose customer trust at the end of an otherwise good (though already overpriced) meal

My husband and I dined tonight at La Tour. We don’t drink so we stuck to water throughout. The quality of the food and the service was impeccable, but I have some reservations about recommending this restaurant to anyone. After we ordered, we asked our waiter for some bread. We were told that this restaurant didn’t have a bread service, but we could order some bread for $7. This annoyed me, given that entrees here average about $50 and bread should be built into the entree price. We declined. Instead, we split a decent but not extraordinary, Caesar Salad. We told our waiter that we needed extra dressing, when we ordered the salad, but the salad arrived without the extra dressing and we waited and waited until our waiter brought some. We both had the duck breast which was cooked to perfection on a bed of lentils and Brussel Sprout leaves. We weren’t impressed by the dessert list, so we passed on dessert. Our bill came to $110, and what really irritated me is that there was an additional 3% Service Charge added which is supposed to be due to the increase in wages paid to kitchen staff, but I dare say , the 3% never reaches the staff. It also causes patrons to shortchange their waiter when it’s time to calculate the waiter’s tip. Restaurants that charge these outrageous prices ought to be able to absorb the cost of bread and wage increases to kitchen staff. It’s for these reasons that I would not recommend this restaurant.

our night started with them not having our open table reservation - that we even confirmed. after a drink at the bar they graciously sat us. the food was average but very expensive like most of Vail. the escargot had absolutely no flavor and the lobster tail we ordered for 3 out of 4 of our main courses was really 5 small cut up pieces of lobster strewn over a much healthier, messier and runnier portion of spinach, asparagus and something red..i think stewed tomatoes. the fish and rest of the food was good. the service was really good. not sure we will run back on our next trip to vail.

If we could give 0 stars, we would. It began as soon as we were seated. We waited 30 minutes before a server came. One of us called ahead and let them know we had a shellfish allergy and they said no problem. In reality, they didn’t, instead of doubling up on vegetables. This was unacceptable. For the others, the food was less than a mediocre. Dessert can be compared to Costco’s frozen section at best. In the end, we paid for our drinks since everything else was prepaid. To our surprise, we later found we were charged an additional amount without an explanation. Thinking it was a mistake, we called the restaurant. 5 phone calls later, Lourdes, the owner, couldn’t explain the charges. After at least 7 phone calls and the same amount of emails, we agreed on an amount to be credited. We repeatedly asked them to send a confirmation of the credit transaction. At one point, they said they had credited the amount and also wanted to send a gift card asking for my address so they could mail it to me. Well, here we are, months later, and, the amount was never credited and no gift card. We believed they were acting in good faith and were willing to correct their wrongdoing. However, it’s ridiculous to be lied to and never paid back. To this day, our emails have been ignored and never heard back from Lourdes. So if you are thinking of going to La Tour, DON’T. The food was awful, the service was worse, and they scam you by charging you too much and hoping you don’t notice.

Oh, so disappointing! The food was not great but the service was attentive. But even good service cannot make up for poor food. Between us we ordered the shrimp Caesar salad, escargot, and foie gras plus wine and champagne. Our total bill was over $100 but the meal was totally disappointing. I have a shellfish allergy and asked to exchange the shrimp for salmon as the protein in the ceases salad. The salad was the size of a mini side salad and they charged us an extra $7 in place of the shrimp. My husband’s meal was cool to the taste and he was also disappointed. We can not recommend this establishment no matter the attentive service.

Reserved an outdoor table and when we arrived we were told the cost would be $400 to eat in the tent . Had not been told that previously. If we cancelled, it would cost $100, $50 per person for cancellation day of. She did drop the fee to rent the tent. I ordered asparagus in place of brussel sprouts and was charged $11. The gal said she would not charge us the $400. Must say food was very good .

They said one price and then charged 4 times the same. I called to reserve a "crystal cabin" and they said the charge for that was $100 usd plus the food bill. They charged $100 usd PER PERSON plus the food bill.

Recently visited La Tour once again and had another great experience. Food was excellent, atmosphere was upscale casual, and service was perfect. With the Autumn nights turning cooler we decided to eat inside despite some COVID paranoia about indoor dining. Our paranoia was misplaced. With the exterior windows open and the half-height walls, the interior room had remarkable air circulation. The six of us started out sharing a 3-cheese plate and the grilled octopus. The cheese plate was very tasty but unfortunately too small for 6 people; we should have ordered two plates. The octopus was very tasty and very different from the typical calamari. We all had different entree dishes and all received good reviews. I had the Portobello Mushroom Wellington (think Beef Wellington with mushrooms and veggies instead of beef). It was very good but being an omnivore I thought it could use a spot of beef stock; the Vegetarians might never know the difference... The wine selection was extensive and seemed priced on scale with such a fine restaurant. The service was very attentive without being pushy. All in all a very enjoyable dinner.

Overall, pretty good, once you get used to Vail prices and French restaurant type serving sizes. We started off with oysters, which were exceptionally fresh tasting, large and juicy. We ordered the East Coast oysters, NOT the premium West Coast oysters. I had the salmon (order it medium rare), my wife had Dover sole and our daughter had black cod. All the fish was good. Her boyfriend had the duck, which was also very tasty.

Wonderful Food and Ambiance! We visited early October, so the fall leaves were mesmerizing to watch on the outdoor patio. Live music branded the experience into my memory. The food was delightful and I felt as if I was in Europe being served by multiple people with interesting accents. Go here if you want to be wowed!

Nice atmosphere, great wine and a great waiter. The food however left much to be desired. Our table of 4 had 2 halibut ,one salmon and one duck. The halibut taste it as if it had just been thawed in hot water put in the microwave and served. The salmon was not much better. The duck was not crispy nor tender. I know this restaurant can do better. very disappointed.

We had a phenomenal experience here at Christmas time when Covid was at its peak. We were able to eat in one of the individual tents which was perfect since we were isolated from the other diners and our 18 month old didn’t ruin anyone else’s dinner. The temperature was perfect since they were heated, and the food was great. Service was also pretty great since they tried to limit their visits within the tent to keep the temperature warm. We ate dinner when it was 10 degrees outside.

I had high hopes for La Tour since it was rated as 'exceptional', but left a bit disappointed. We walked into a crowded, noisy entry way with no seating to wait before our table was ready for our 7:30 reservation. We found several mothers walking around in the dining rooms comforting their crying infants, which I empathize with, but this really took away from the ambiance. The restaurant had dated decor and furniture that felt out of place. Our server was friendly and professional, but could have checked in with us a few more times. Our meals and drinks came out very quickly after ordering. I ordered the sole meuniere. It was good, but at $54, very expensive for the portion and presentation. The other person in my party ordered the Caesar salad , but the lettuce was not fresh. At $17 for a small salad, we found this unacceptable. We ended up sending it back and it was refunded without question, for which we were grateful. We were looking forward to dessert, but decided to skip since the experience had been unsatisfactory. Overall, the food was tasty but lack-luster for the price. I would personally try this restaurant again to give them a second chance (maybe it was just an off-night), but I wouldn't recommend it to another diner with so many other options in Vail and the surrounding areas.

Luciano was our waiter and he was AMAZING!!! Because several of the restaurants were closed while we were in Vail for 16 days, we ate at La Tour at least seven times and Luciano after the second time remembered all our preferences. The food was consistently the best in the Vail/Edwards area. Caqn't wait to go back!

The food is very good. Our server, Vuk, completely personable and helpful. Wine list, quite good and not ridiculously over priced. The “igloo” on the other hand is. That said, the “no shows” on the serving side could have easily pushed this review to 2, but the kids pasta (double order) were enough for me to have to find out what bucatini is (think delicious spaghetti according to my kids) and the steak and fish kept this review to a 4. We will be back soon as the food and wine are very good, but not again if we experience the same challenges.
