For some reason I do not like the name of the restaurant but we chose it for lunch anyway. Fantastic! We had outdoor seating in the sun which was nice. The waitress was very attentive and the food was fantastic. We had everything from an Omelet to a avocado hamburger, chicken salad. All were very tasteful and you did not have to wait 30 minutes to get the meal.

We have travelled to Steamboat many times over the years and make it a point to make it to The Shack for breakfast at least one time each trip so were a bit apprehensive when we heard of the new ownership. We can say without doubt that there was no need to worry as the food and service were excellent....as always in the past. They southwest influence on classic breakfast items is spot on and the portions are more than adequate for the biggest appetites. We’ll continue to frequent The Shack on all future visits to Steamboat.

The Shack has anything you could possibly want for breakfast. It is very reasonably priced compared to some of the other restaurants. The food is okay, I was thinking I would get homemade salsa with my scramble, but it was a small serving of non-descript sauce. We had to ask for jelly for our toast.

When we visited, they clearly put someone in charge of the kitchen who didn't know how to cook. We even overheard a number of locals complain that it was not as good as usual this time around. Pancakes, eggs, and chicken-fried steak were either overdone or undercooked. Food sat in our stomachs for many hours afterwards. Even so, the service was very good and she was very kind and cordial.

This place was a waste of time and money. Couldn’t order an egg without them screwing it up. The biscuits and gravy seemed to come out of a can and everything was either undercooked or burnt. The waitress was a flighty as they come.

So this is on the main street of downtown but didn't show up in any "places to go list" that I found and no locals recommend it, in fact they steered us away from this place. Now I know why! Locals actually eat here! It was our cheapest meal in steamboat and perhaps one of the best as well! When I asked for veggies, I got a giant plate of steamed veggies. My tummy was SO happy with the food, service, and speed at which everything happened. I would highly recommend this location to eat!

Stopped in to pick up breakfast. Had the chicken fried steak with hash browns, scrambled eggs and biscuits. Daughter had the French toast that she said was great. The steak was a little over cooked and they forgot the gravy but it was good. Will go back again.

We were walking around Steamboat Springs and looking for a place to have lunch. we found this place and we are happy that we did. We share a grilled veggie sandwich with onion rings and everything was very tasty. The kids had a grilled cheese sandwich with french fries and they appeared to enjoy that. The place has a nice atmosphere and our waitress was very pleasant and attentive.

Nice little restaurant, and enjoyed our meal. However, we felt the waitress was not too attentive, and brought our slip before we had finished our meal, and without asking if we would like anything else. When we went up front to pay, the same waitress was dishing up some icecream from a big tub into a dessert bowl, scraping the spoon off with her finger !!! Not too hygenic I would say !!1

We were able to sit outside on a little patio next to the Main Street sidewalk. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. We did not have to wait long to receive our entrees.
Great salad options which tasted fresh. Everyone was pleased and satisfied with their lunches. Sweet potato fries were crisp on the outside and tasted amazing!

Good mom and pop style restaurant. Food was delicious. We came for breakfast. I ordered the Huevos Racheros because the waitress said it was popular. I can see why, it was really good. We were told their pancakes are also a popular item on the menu. They serve breakfast all day and lunch. Customer service was great as well. Everyone was very friendly. I 100% recommend and would come back if we were staying in town longer.

We ate here for both mornings we were in Steamboat Springs. Couldn't fault it. We arrived early but it was still very busy and almost everyone seemed to be local, which we always think is a good sign. Friendly staff and very good food.

Stopped in for breakfast and I wasn't that impressed with food. Wait staff were great. I ordered the chicken fried steak with hash browns, two eggs and a biscuit. The steak was to thin and over cooked. Hash browns were smashed together. Wife and daughter could only eat half their food. Guess they were having a bad day as it rates pretty well previously.

When we lived in Steamboat we used to eat at The Shack once a week. 11 years later and still the same great taste. All the yummy breakfast options. Friendly service, as usual. You can't go wrong with this spot!

My family ate breakfast here two mornings in a row on our vacation. The pancakes are AMAZING!! All of our food was really good. Service is fast and friendly. Clean restaurant and lots of local people eat here too. Prices are very reasonable.
