Varied menu, delicious food, reasonable prices, great service, clean restrooms, difficult parking. Call ahead to reserve a table. Steamboat is crowded the last week of July so be ready to battle the crowds. The town desperately needs more parking.

We came here late in the afternoon on a hot day. Enjoyed a beer and chicken wings, which were probably the best ones we have tasted. Service excellent and fast.

Seating for 8 is not always an easy task, but Carl's handled it brilliantly and we were able to sit outside (per our request) and we enjoyed a great dinner on an even perfect evening... Thanks

Carl's is one of our local go to places - probably eat lunch there every couple of weeks and have never had a bad meal or deal. Their happy hour is pretty awesome and specials during off-season keep us coming back, especially when the others are closed during mud season. We frequently split a burger and fries, then add a... It was a great surprise to find this place on our way home after a camping trip and we ordered the chicken wings which are the best we have had in years yes years and the French dip was delicious. Yes its a bit pricey but you expect that in Steamboat Springs its totally a tourist town.

My wife and I took a date night to Carl's and enjoyed an evening at the bar drinking from a great cocktail menu (order the Gypsy). There were friendly couples all around to talk to and the atmosphere was top notch. Great for social young couples looking for a cocktail night. Fancy cocktails run about $10-12

The food was overpriced and not very good. Our salad was more like soup, and meat was almost raw. disgusting. we payed $100 dollars for a mediocre meal, not coming back...

Good standard American fare (tavern plus some nicer steak and fish options). "The Business" is a delicious heart attack appetizer. Good beer selection and EXCELLENT bourbon choices. We were there at the same time Carl's was hosting participants from a bike race, and the service was very spotty. We were outside and occasionally felt forgotten. The waitress did realize what... Arrived late and was seated at a table away from the good vibe - not sure why - was me and my 3 girls. We waited for a while for a server to acknowledge us. Took a while for server to take our order. The food took a while too - but it was awesome! The mac and cheese probably... More

A place for the hungry. The thirsty. The legendary. Some people actually think the Wright Brothers perfected human flight. Around here, we all know better. Carl Howelsen turned Steamboat into a playground, skis into wings, and mustaches into an art form. His adventurous spirit is our inspiration - and Carl’s Tavern is a place for adventurous spirits to call home. Here, the hospitality is genuine, the beer is cold, and the food is made from scratch. So come as you are, make yourself at home, and share a few of your own legendary stories. Just don’t try to one-up Carl; you’ll hurt yourself.
