Even if you're not hungry, even if you're not thirsty, check this place out. There is a massive number of taxidermies.

For Silverton, Handlebars Restaurant & Saloon is pretty good. It's a meat and potatoes heavy menu, although they had Colorado trout if you like fish. The portions are huge. Everything comes with a bread roll, mashed potatoes and the like. The menu is way too...extensive for everything to be totally fresh and homemade, especially given the difficulty of getting fresh ingredients to Silverton. A little bit of effort in the kitchen and this could be a lot better. Likewise, some of the staff are pretty rough around the edges. Some staff, including the bartender who appeared to be the manager, did NOT wear face masks. Many guests didn't wear face masks either. The best part of the menu is the homemade peach cobbler. In terms of entrees, I'd stick to burgers and the steak. It's tough to screw those things up.More

We have been coming to Silverton for years-like 25 and in the last 10 or so switched to Handlebars for their prime rib. We went there last night for a fun meal and ordered the prime rib. It wasn’t prime rib-it was a prime streak-grill...marks on each side- so tough the knives they gave us wouldn’t cut it. My husband had to use his knife. The waiter knew it wasn’t what it should be and asked did we want something else but after paying for prime rib who wanted to buy something else. Simple problem-simple answer-I’m sorry that isn’t available tonight. Instead they tried to carry on and needed up losing a family of customers. Ruined our night in the mountains.More

This restaurant is definitely 'big eating'. But so worth it. They've got a cozy country western vibe and home style selections. You can also sit out in their patio if the weather is nice. I ordered the chicken fried chicken and it was very good....We will be back again!More

The menu says Handlebar-size sandwiches and showed a picture of a big stacked sandwich. When my BLT came, it was disappointing because I expected a big sandwich. It was good (how could it not be with bacon?) but was like a sandwich you would make...and eat at your kitchen table..😕 Everyone else said their food was good too. However... Sherrys Famous Peach Cobbler was fantastic.More

Food was so tasty! Large portions. Unfortunately the waitress had her mask tucked under her chin the entire we were there and while she was serving us. I feel she and the night manager do not really care about their customers or the law. This...should be reported to the health department.More

My family and I have been eating at Handlebars for 20+ years and it is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere. To really appreciate Handlebars you have to love it for what it is: a dive bar in a small mountain town that serves well-...prepared and hearty bar food. Nothing inventive, trendy or complicated. But, given that, the food is great! The buffalo meat chili is maybe the best chili I’ve ever had, and the fried chicken is equally outstanding. The ribs and burgers are excellent, too. And save room for dessert! The dozens and dozens of mounted and stuffed animals all over the room are either fascinating or horrifying, depending upon your point of view. A great place to unwind and eat too much after a day on the Jeep trails or the train. Highly recommended!More

Handlebars is the best restaurant in Silverton, hands down. The staff was great, the steaks were very good, and the drinks were welcome after a long day in the mountains!

We came here after hiking all day so we were starving. Had a couple of beers/cocktails then had chicken pot pie which was delicious, but wish I’d had the fries or mash with it instead of salad. We also had the green chili burger which...was excellent. And another burger. The burgers were excellent. We then had the peach cobbler with Ice Cream which was lovely l. But took the whipped cream off the top. All on a great mean for everyone (4 of us) interesting bar with all kinds of decor. Seating available outside also. Wear you mask on till you are seated.More

The atmosphere is great with a lot of memorabilia and taxidermy animals all around. The square bar is cool and there is covered outdoor seating. The service was good and the menu was extensive. We had a half order of fried chicken and chicken fried...steak. The chicken was good and the chicken fried steak was mediocre.More

While Handlebars is one of my favorites, I know Grumpys has one because we tried supper there one night and it was Broncos night and they were only serving appetizers .
