Early train start in Durango without time for breakfast and a four hour slow steam train journey leaves you standing in the town center of Silverton (origination: a ton of silver) around noon mighty hungry. Most reviews of local restaurants are pretty good and leave you unable to differentiate so it takes the recommendation of a local friend to make... More

Food was average at best. Ordered chicken fried steak. Not much gravy and not much taste. Have eaten much better at other restaurants.

Rocky Mountain Oysters and Elk Burgers are high on the list of favorites. Onion rings and their homemade BBQ sauce are delicious. They have a kids menu too. In the summer, make sure you get to the restaurant before the Silverton Durango trains and buses arrive many times a day. Check the train's website for times as they vary. You... More

The food was really good. I got the pulled pork which was super tender and very tasty. My husband got the elk burger which was huge, filling and really good. The kids ate the mac n cheese which looked like it came out of a box but my kids inhaled it, so it must of been good. It was crazy... More

We ate there two consecutive nights, both are great! We saw the fried chicken at the next table the first night and went back to order it next day. We were happy we did. Enough left over for lunch next day. We also enjoyed the atmosphere, highly recommend it if you are in Silverton.

Handlebars has to be the most famous restaurant in this part of the state and rightly so as there aren't many places with that much character and history. However, the food isn't as great as it was in past years and the staff could really benefit from being a tad more polite and accommodating. Customers beware, as soon as the... More

I had the Lemon Pepper Chicken...it was the best I've ever had. My husband had the Spaghetti and Meatballs and really loved it. Everyone in there was very friendly.

It was our second visit to the restaurant. Service was again good and friendly. The steak was seasoned well, but thin. The catfish was awesome as were the sweet potato fries.
