Our small group of 4 agreed to meet here after shopping for dinner. There was an older, blue eyed man who acted as host. What a strange encounter. I ask if I could see the menu and he said yes, but said very little on...it was actually offered. He told the lady in front of us that the special was squirrel. He said more bizarre things and we left and went back to Durango for dinner.More

You would never know we were in a Covid pandemic. The place was super crowded and small. Our Jeep tour stopped here after a long afternoon. We sat at a table near the kitchen, huge trash can and bathroom. It was bad. Also we couldn’t...get waited on. Took a while because of shift change. The food was mediocre. And the waitress added a 20 percent tip as we were part of a group. Maybe another time it would have been okay.More

Recently tried to eat lunch here and had the worst experience ever with a smart-ass, rude host. We had asked someone for a lunch suggestion and were told Handlebars. We politely went up to the older male host to add our name to the list...and inquire as to how long the wait was. Just short of cursing, he pretty made a couple of rude remarks to our adult daughter without ever taking our name or answering how long it would be. We had watched him be extremely rude to the older lady in front of us as well, for no reason, and decided to take our business elsewhere. My family has no idea how good/bad the food or service would have been but when you have someone of that caliber as your host - I really don't care to walk through your door or give you my business.More

A group of 6 of us recently visited Silverton and spent 2 nights there. When we checked in to our AirBNB a neighbor recommended Handlebars as a good place to eat dinner. We went to dinner there that evening. We had to wait to be...seated due to them being short handed. After we were seated we were greeted by our server, John. John immediately made us feel at home. He made recommendations for dinner and laughed and joked with us the whole time. He originally told us that his name was Juanita. So from that time on we called him JJ (Juanita/John). We had a great time and the food, all of it was excellent. John definitely made it a memorable experience. We decided immediately to eat there the next evening also. Our server the next evening introduced himself as Sam, he looked just like Sam Elliott. Sam’s name was actually, Andrew. Andrew was just as good at making us feel welcome as John did. He made excellent recommendations for our dinner meal. Andrew laughed and joked with us just as John did. The food was excellent as before. The whole atmosphere was great, but our servers, John and Andrew made it a most memorable experience.More

This is THE place for dinner. This was the freshest salad I have ever eaten. The atmosphere is stunning. BUT you will love Andy (Sam Elliott) and John. They were not only great at serving but they took their time with us to give us...some history and talk about themselves. We absolutely loved them. We had breakfast with them and they are charming. Loved out time here. We WILL be back. Will not come to Silverton without seeing them and eating at Handlebars.More

I tried to get in line to put my name in for a table and politely asked how long the wait might be for our group. The host was SUPER rude to me and basically acted like I was idiotic for asking about tbe wait....Didn't eat here, wish I could give 0 stars for staff behavior.More

Not only was the food great, but the service and the atmosphere were excellent! Our server had worked there over 15 years and she was super! I had the mushroom Swiss cheese burger and it was huge and delicious. Their fries are some of the...best I've ever had and don't miss their homemade peach cobbler for dessert!!! My husband had the elk burger and it was excellent as well. If you'll be in the area, make time to stop and eat here. As another reviewer stated, the Sam Elliot look alike who seats you just fits right in with the atmosphere and makes you feel right at home in this really cool little mining town.More

While Handlebars is one of my favorites, I know Grumpys has one because we tried supper there one night and it was Broncos night and they were only serving appetizers .
