Wonderful service and good food. Would go back. Feels like western eatery and was recommended by one of the golfers I was with.

We discovered upon arriving to town that this is one of the only places that serves lunch so even at 1:00, it was still hopping. We had eaten here before and recalled the food being very good so we waited. We were seated on the balcony which was a treat and even though big thunder boomers were threatening, it was... More

Have to visit when traveling through Ridgeway, Colorado to get a bowl of the pork green chile soup,a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with, a glass of sweet tea. It's the best meal of the trip!

I came here not expecting much with the two previous nights a bust in Ouray. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was good. All of it. No complaints from our party of 8. As usual, the prices were a little high but expected for the area. I had the chicken fried steak and it was good. We liked the brown... More

We ate here twice, a lunch and a supper. Good food and service both times. We ate once on the patio out back and once inside. The staff were great, available but not hovering.

Good burgers and great fries. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. We have been here a few times and the food has always been good and the staff accommodating. The desserts have been good too although your should share a meal if getting dessert. Their portions were big.

Popped in for lunch and got a decent burger with fries. Staff was helpful but not overly friendly. Maybe because they had just opened?

True Grit Cafe is a slice of history served with a large portion of chicken fried steak. Very friendly staff and amazing food. Even the fried okra tasted unusually fresh. We will be back!

Menu should have something you would like. Huge selection, but if you can't make up your mind, the chicken fried steak is awesome. Pork green chili is excellent, but has some heat. Service is very good and friendly. Also the park across the street is where the hanging scene in True Grit was filmed.

I was here for breakfast and it was fantastic. The bloody mary's too. I also had to take home some of their own hot sauce. I only like 2 restaurants in this area and this is one of them.

Howdy folks! Welcome to the True Grit Cafe Established in 1985, the "Grit" as it is known has been serving hungry tourists and locals for over 25 years. We offer excellent and tasty 'Cowboy Cuisine' in a comfortable western environment with a friendly staff that will make you feel like you're part of the Grit Family. We take a lot of pride in our homemade fare including the best dang chicken fried steak this side of the Rocky Mountains. Other menu specialties include hand-pattied burgers, mouth watering Tex-Mex Specialties, juicy steaks, house made meatloaf, fresh tempura battered mahi mahi fish and chips, sandwiches and gourmet salads. For the vegetarians we offer lots of tasty choices. We are also gluten-free friendly. Our wide selection of liquors, beer and wine give you a great place to gather round with the locals and visitors alike. We have two full bars, one on the main floor and one upstairs, around which locals and visitors gather to chat or share experiences in the beautiful San Juan Mountains. Our remodeled upstairs with its large private booths will accommodate from two to fourteen people, and don't forget the deck overlooking our beautiful park. The True Grit Cafe was built to honor the filming of the academy award winning movie "True Grit" starring John Wayne. Come sit on the deck and look out at the beautiful background you'll see throughout the movie. Oh, and you'll see a lot of pictures of the great star's film legacy all around.
