I'm staying in a local condo with my family for the week and needed some coffee for the condo. Stopped here and picked up some of their dark roast, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Their magic bars and other desserts are also delicious.

I had a great experience today at Higher Grounds...the location is convenient, the cafe/restaurant is good size, the staff is (mostly) pleasant and helpful, the coffee is awesome, their lunch offerings and desserts is delish!, the seating is ample, varied, and comfortable. The only thing that would improve things would be for them to turn the A/C cooler and lose... More

But this place has left me with no choice. The service is friendly and efficient. The shop is airy, open and filled with interesting things to look at (some for sale). You can buy a martini, delicious dessert, or creative fresh made sandwich if you like... But I'm coming back every day (sometimes twice) of my vacation for a plain... More

Tourist and locals alike come here. Great brew, lots of comfortable chairs and outside sitting is available. They also have breakfast items.

Coffee was good, atmosphere was nice. Outdoor seating is available, but unfortunately 2 of the 4 chairs at our table were broken making it a bit uncomfortable.

We had a nice breakfast, but the food was almost like an after thought for the restaurant. I ordered quiche which was creamy and had a super crust, but there was not much of the green chili and sausage (to the point I would not have noticed it was green chili sausage unless I knew the order....the taste and amounts... I walked up later in the evening when most everyone was closing up in town. The two ladies working there were kind enough to let me in after I told them I was traveling to Denver and needed some re-ups on my liquids. A bit disheveled and strung out from a long day they didn't appear to visibly judge me... More

Love the feel of this place. Was a nice light breakfast stop with tons of coffee & smoothie choices. They even had a mimosa smoothie...yes, a real one!!

This is the first place I go when I visit Pagosa. Cozy, friendly and comfortable and the coffee drinks are just right. Good breakfast and lunch choices for quick to go or eat in lighter fare.

We had lunch here today and the food was very good. The only complaint was the fact that there were no drinks except for water or black coffee that didn't contain sugar. There were two people in our party that are diabetic and can't have sugary drinks.

Description
As the town's longest running coffee house, Higher Grounds was established in 2004 with the goal of bringing the country's then-emerging craft coffee scene to the quaint mountain community of Pagosa Springs. Exclusively serving organic fair trade coffee, fresh in-house baked goods, and a curated selection of local beers & spirits, we continually strive to be THE destination for both locals and visitors.
