What a treat! Ignore all the whiners about no buffet. The food was lovingly and deliciously prepared by Nepalese mom and dad, served by their son. I can see why previous posters drive from Grand Junction to eat here. We started with the chicken dumplings....So fresh with depth of flavor and not gummy. Followed by curry, saag, and the best Naan I've ever had. I'd drive from Grand Junction just for the Naan. Did I mention the giant glass of wine? No skimpy glass for the road warriors. Will put this on the road trip detour list.More
My wife and I stopped here for lunch on our way to Utah. And we were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. The dishes we had were wonderful and the quantities were ample. The decor is dated, however this is not really...a concern. Note that parking on site is limited so one may need to park along the street side.More
We were lured into this Himalayan restaurant by a large sign outside announcing their lunch buffet. We thought that since we don't know much about this cuisine it would be good to try a few different things and find out what we like and don't...like. When we got inside there was no buffet. Due to covid they had chosen to abandon the buffet instead of providing a work around like other restaurants in the area (i.e., providing an employee to serve it or providing gloves and masks for self-service). We told the waitress Sonika that we were unfamiliar with the cuisine and asked her to describe a few of the dishes. She simply recommended a couple of them. We ordered the House Special Bhat and Special Chow Chow ($14.99 each). Even though we have no idea what was in either dish, they were both good and we would order them again if we ever run across Himalayan cuisine again. As far as Himalayan Pun Hill - we probably wouldn't return since other restaurants are working much harder to make a go of things in these rough times.More
Late lunch/early dinner of chicken masala and lamb biryani with garlic and cheese naan did not disappoint. Rich, bold flavor in the biryani. The masala was smooth and creamy and the chicken was perfect. Two thumbs up and definitely a return visit tomorrow to try...some of the other menu itemsMore
I love food from this part of the world. For the appetizer I got the sampler and while I liked it I don’t think I would get it again. The server recommended the chicken sekuwa. It was served on a sizzling plate similar to fajitas,...minus the tortillas. It came with a side of rice. The only vegetable that came with was onions. Flavor was good and I would’ve liked more vegetables, but I would imagine this is the way it is in the old country. Again I don’t think I’ll get it again but it wasn’t bad.More
Go for the lunch buffet - you won't be disappointed! Such good food! The curry has a great flavor, not overly spicy. But there is a good hot chile sauce (in the condiment section) you can add if you like things spicier.
We ate a late lunch here while their buffet was still open. While we were there, the chef brought out fresh dishes. Everything we ate was excellent & so tasty. The servers made sure our water was filled & the used dishes were taken away....This is one of our favorite places to eat in Montrose!More
