About
The Absolute Bakery and Cafe, is located in downtown Mancos, Colorado, just two blocks south of the town's only traffic light. We bake and cook everything from scratch, using organic, local and fresh ingredients. It's all homemade: from the eggs and hashbrowns, to eclectic soups and salads with our own delicious dressings, pastas from different parts of Europe, and our own red and green chile sauces in a wide variety of Southwestern fare. If you're needing a quick pick-me-up, we have a full coffee and espresso bar featuring locally roasted, fair-trade, organic coffees. The ABC offers you a fine-dining experience without the glitter. Enter the one hundred year-old Bauer Bank Building and immediately you are tantalized by the aromas of fresh breads and pastries coming hot from the oven. Our friendly waitstaff greet you with smiles. The vintage decorative tin ceiling, a variety of tables and chairs, the local artwork adorning the walls, as well as a great selection of used books for your browsing pleasure add to the unique, eclectic and cozy atmosphere that is so inviting to both locals and visitors.

Due to corona virus restraints I know we missed out on the full bakery experience. However the breakfast we took out was wonderful. Oatmeal with loads of fresh fruit and eggs done to perfection. Couldn’t ask for more

Outstanding food, service is lacking. Lots of waiting around. Be prepared to stay at least an hour and a half. Problem #1: Wait time I was told I would only have to wait for about 10-15 min. It ended up being closer to 50 minutes. I understand wait times are just an estimate and that the host was just taking his best guess. The staff here need to work on their estimation skills. Problem #2: Service It seems as if all the wait staff here share responsibilities (and I assume tips?). I had two people waiting on me, and the kitchen brought me my food. It was difficult to flag them down for drink refills and the check. Problem #3: Payment At the end of my meal, I was informed I would have to pay at the counter. Not a big deal. I’m used to this at diners. The problem here, however, is that this restaurant was very busy and is also a bakery and coffee bar. They only had one person working the register, and the line to pay was very long. I had to stand there and wait while party after party decided what coffee drinks and pastries they wanted to order. It was frustrating to say the least. Problem #4: Utilization of space I found it odd that they were wasting a good 1/4 of their dining area to sell books and other knickknacks. They easily could’ve fit four small tables in the space. It also made it very crowded around the register and hard to queue up for the register. I want to reiterate that the food was very good. The coffee drinks and pastries were also delicious. This place could easily get five stars if they work on their customer service.

Seriously, the chicken quesadilla was delicious! When stated was on red tortilla, I was skeptical. But, no worries, really was delicious. Stuffed to brimming with cheese, chicken, etc! We also had the cookies, delicious! There were so many other items to try, we will be back!

Stopped for lunch after touring Mesa Verde. The food was excellent. Two of us had quiche, it was light, fluffy, tasty and the crust was excellent. The hamburgers were great. One person had a turkey sandwich and the bread was terrific. We shared several different varieties of cookies. One was better than the next. Loved the molasses cookies and any of the chocolate chip cookies were delicious. They did have outdoor seating. Bathrooms were spotless. A gem not to be missed.

I really love this little gem and the bakery products are outstanding. I dropped in to get a small takeaway coffee and pastry. I paid by card and didn't check my total until I got back home. I was overcharged and am not happy about it. I will go again with receipt in hand and ask why. The food is worth recommending but these days every penny counts.

Awesome food & nice place to hang out. Very pleased with the quality of the homemade fare. Also enjoyed the outdoor seating & nearby picnic tables where you can eat, which makes for a relaxing atmosphere in the charming downtown area. Oh, and they have really cool books for sale.

Fine sandwiches, pasta dishes, and pastries. Pleasant and helpful staff. Interesting book collection was a nice addition. ABC in now open for takeout and for dine-in on the street-side patio outside

For a small town restaurant this place served the best eggs benedict I have EVER had. I would highly recommend this spot if you are in the area. Even if visiting Durango, Cortez, or Mesa Verde National Park - this place is right off Highway 160 and worth checking out!

Fun spot - our son had been through here when doing some whitewater training and told us it was a great breakfast stop. By the crowd and somewhat overwhelmed staff he was right. My wife ordered food which took a very long time to get. There was a lot of folks here and not much else seemed to be open. I got very good coffee and we sat outside. Very nice server brought food over to us as we had told her about a nice shady spot we saw nearby we were going to take it out to. Chocolate chunk cookies and coffee were great.

Whenever I come towards Mancos, I make time to stop at Absolute Bakery. Sometimes for a destination breakfast. Their quiche/salad is a favorite, filling lunch. Always different options. Baked goods are extraordinary but the Lemon Lavender cookies are a takeaway every time! Yum!

This fantastic eatery was walking distance from our motel. The staff was very friendly and the food superb! The Greek salad with chicken I had for lunch was the BEST I've every had...very substantive. The homemade bars were phenomenal! The business was extremely health conscious, not only caring about customers but their own staff!!!

We came here on the recommendation of a local resident, and the recommendation was excellent. This restaurant/bakery seemed like a place out of the hippie era. Did I mention that it's a bit of a bookstore too? Anyway, the menu was interesting, and the food was fine. We plan to return tomorrow!

Great breakfast in a neat historic building. Loved everything including the sourdough whole grain pancakes. Perfect hash browns, high quality bacon, fresh eggs. Delicious, and great service too.

We stopped in for breakfast on our way to Mesa Verde National Park. What a gem. Cool vibe, covid-friendly, nice people, busy place where you may have to wait at prime times, but worth it. They have so much to choose from and it is so delicious! We are vegetarian and there were many things for us here, which is sometimes hard.

Unbelievably good breakfast, especially the cinnamon roll. Iced Vanilla latte was fantastic as well. Service was very friendly and the decor was super cute. One of our favorite stops in the area for sure!
