Service is great and prices are on point. Remember this is Lamar, there are no five star restaurants here. This restaurant serves typical sandwiches and American food at a good price, it’s clean, and the service is great. You can’t ask for more here.

A great treat. Great food economically priced. Lacy, our server, has a very friendly and welcoming attitude. Very helpful and attentive. Great place to enjoy good food and conscientious caring service after a long day traveling

This is a nice local restaurant in a small town. We had dinner and the menu had lots of choices from burgers to steaks and chicken. Both wine and beer were available. The restaurant was clean and service good.

Expect a clean restaurant when you come in. They have a nice varied menu and the service we got from Sabrina was both friendly and attentive. I had a delicious burger and my husband was happy with the fried chicken. As others have mentioned the...french fries, they really are good! They serve beer, margaritas, and wine which was also nice for dinner. I noticed a group come in 3 minutes before closing and they happily seated them. I will be coming back to visit!More

Staff was friendly, but salad was chopped iceberg with chopped deli ham with packaged shredded cheese and an egg.

My wife read a TripAdvisor review of this restaurant that recommended the pie. With the glowing review of the pie, she thought it would be homemade. Based on the review, we stopped in for a drink and piece of pie. We have attached a photos...of the drink menu, and the slice of chocolate cream pie that we ordered. We were told by the waitress that the pie cost $5.50, but when we paid the bill, the pie was rung up as $5.99. Our thoughts on the pie? It was very overpriced as it was ordinary store-bought pie.More

So very disappointed with the old lady who was seating everyone and checking everyone out. She was making sure everyone had a mask on, but where was her mask? Down around her chin the whole time we were there. Don’t tell everyone it is a...law, (not a law only a suggestion) and not wear yours!!!More

Over the years, we've always had tasty, no-nonsense, filling meals at the Hickory House. But at a recent lunch, we also came away with an appreciation of how the restaurant takes hygiene issues seriously in the middle of a pandemic. Lots of distance between tables....Wait staff wearing masks. Bottles of hand sanitizer all around the place. Even a sign-in sheet to get seated, which we assume was in the event that contact tracing might be needed. And the food? Still well made and full of flavor, like my chicken-fried steak with mashed and plenty of top-notch cream gravy. The menu may be a bit limited at the moment but there's a good selection to please most diners. If you find yourself in Lamar, keep this place on your radar.More
