This restaurant is where an adult be a kid. The table is covered with a big piece of wax paper, and once you get your food the waiter comes along and puts a bib on you. They have seafood and if you love seafood then you will love this one. It's amazing taste come in extra hot, hot, medium and mild. The flavors are incredible, your seafood comes in cooking bags. These bags are tied and when you open the bag the aroma of all these different taste are incredible. Please go and try this for yourself. I say a taste of maybe one country and one other state and I am not going to tell you because you will have to try it for your self. Soooo soooo good.
We have been here a few times now. The place is very clean with excellent service from friendly wait staff. We mostly come for the Monday oysters special. So nice to have a decent place that is close to us. Very good oysters.😎
We came here with a few of Hubby's friends who wanted to treat us here. This is a messy-style eating because you need to use your hands the entire time. I'm ok eating like this with Hubby but not a fan when I have to...do that with a group. We went to a this type of restaurant in Long Beach Cali before. We thought that was fun to do it once.
So, they ordered shrimp, clams, crawfish and some had fish & chips. The seafood dishes were cooked in a Cajun style sauce. They would clear the table and bring a bag of each shellfish separately and open them on the table for us to eat. Hubby quickly took from each portion for me and him and set them aside to eat. This way I could eat them safely. This is better than picking from the portion each time I wanted to try something. I liked clams better than other shellfish. The flavor was ok, just a cajun taste, but they spiced them up too much. One thing I thought they could do better is to clear the shell right away from the customers after they eat quite a portion that can be taken away in a bag and not let them leave that on the table for too long. Our friend who ordered fish & chips offered us to try some. I did! It was a surprise because the seafood place makes the best fish & chips! My goodness, they beat the English fish & chips! You must try this because you're not going to believe how good it is. If we have to return for another invitation, we would get fish & chips! Even the fries tasted so good!
The place looked nice, a big place with a few TVs and many tables enough for large and small groups. Nice staff!More
Special treat for us. We haven’t eaten here since dine in wasn’t allowed. My son didn’t want to change the experience we love so much. Since I was on vacation we got here just after they opened. They are enforcing social distancing and have a...separate area for pick up of to go orders. It’s accesible through their patio area. It was nice being in the restaurant again. We ordered two pounds of crawfish and three clusters of snow crab. The crawfish comes with corn and a potato. We also got a side of rice. They serve water in disposable cups and the rice as well. Yabby Cajun seasoning medium hot was our choice this time. The crawfish was delish and fun to eat. And the snow crab was soft and moist. The rice dipped in the sauce was so good. Our fingers were dripping from the sauce but we didn’t mind as everything tasted so good. Had our bibs on to lessen the chance of getting sauce on our clothes. We definitely need to come back again soon. Delicious and friendly service. The server had a mask and was careful with our orders. I was glad to see they were still busy with take out and dine in. They have a second location opening and I hope it’s closer to us. We will have to check it out.More
This was absolutely the greatest. I had the crawfish for the first time and they taught me how to eat it. Which is why I thought I would try it. The shrimp. And normally I get crab legs but the gal recommended the fresh dungeoness...crab so I tried that for the first time. It was great. I had the Yabby spice and at the novice heat which was 2nd to the highest. Soooooo gooodMore
My son and I love this place. It’s our go to for special celebrations and satisfies our food cravings. Came here with our good friends to celebrate a birthday. Made reservations as we had a large party and their popularity brings a lot of diners...especially during the weekend. They also have to limit your dining time to 2 hours which seems long but is not as you struggle with opening crab legs. 😬 the wait is worth it. We ordered 6 clusters of snow crab and 2 lbs of crawfish in yabby seasoning medium hot. They had 1 lb of crawfish, 2 clusters of snow crab, large gumbo with rice, fried shrimp basket with fries. Added corn, sausage and side orders of rice. They also had yabby seasoning novice. And to top the meal off we had the fried banana dessert. With a candle for him and regular for us. So yummy! Ready to come back again.More
Stopped in here after planning a visit for quite a while. I was very glad I finally made it.
I was here about 3:30pm on a weekend. Despite the early time, there were a number of people in the restaurant at that time. Service was...friendly and helpful. The restaurant is larger than it looks like from the outside and was very comfortable.
The menu offers a variety of seafood, from shrimp to crawfish to oysters and crab. Some is seasonal. You choose your protein (by the pound), the seasoning and spice level. Also offered are some fried options as appetizers with fish, shrimp, calamari as well as fries, wings, gumbo and chowder.
I had 2 lbs. of boiled crawfish with Cajun seasoning and a medium heat level. It was served freshly cooked with potatoes and corn. 2 lbs. of whole crawfish delivers about 1/3 lb. of meat. Combined with the potatoes and corn, the serving size was sufficient. The seasoning and heat level were accurate and tasty. You'll get a large sheet of butcher paper on the table to spread your meal out on and make sure you opt for the bib.
The price at the time for crawfish was $11.99/lb. So, for 2 lbs with corn, potatoes and an iced tea, my bill was right at $30. While this is expensive for 1 person, for the quality of seasonal seafood, cooked just right, it's justifiable on an occasional basis.
I would like to return to The Yabby Hut to try some of their other options, as they offer plenty at more affordable prices. it was worth the costs for well cooked boiled crawfish.More
This is our favorite restaurant to celebrate special moments at. Every chance we have we eat here. The servers are nice and the place has grown from a dive to a popular dive. We have written our names on the walls for years. It’s nice...that they have grown popular but I’m sad as I loved the quiet from before. They now have TV sets to watch games on and they’re busy. There are many choices for the sauce you want your seafood cooked in but we love the yabby seasoning medium hot. Crawfish and crab are our staples. And the fried banana dessert is delicious. Sweet and cool with crispy and warm. Have been coming here for years, will continue coming for years to come.More
First off, we love cajun food, shrimp and crawfish. This place is fun cause they bring the seafood in a plastic bag and you dump it on your table and go at it. It is a huge mess that I guess some folks like. We...tried the house seasoning which I thought was rather bland and the shrimp were very overcooked which made it nearly impossible to peel. Only been there once, it was busy, so maybe just a bad night. Oh, and no liquor, just beer.More
My partner and I each ordered different options to get a mix of the spice and sauce combos on offer, and loved the experience! The orders are brought to you in a bag that you open and eat with your hands (fair warning!), but the...whole experience is a fun, messy endeavor. Food was high quality and fresh, and very tasty. Would recommend!More
Super informal and so super messy that you almost can't pick up your beer bottle. The crawfish in the Yabby cajun sauce were swimming in oil (which is where the mess came from), but were tender and moist, even though previously frozen. The medium hot...sauce was just enough spice for me and was not overly salty like in an unfortunate number of other cajun places. The meat in the dungeness crab leg clusters was so sweet and tender, but the Yabby cajun flavor overwhelmed the crab. I should have done it with the butter & garlic, which was delicious on my wife's boiled shrimp and very sweet boiled red potato. The coleslaw is very good, as is the fried rice. The latter is more like an Asian fried rice, than Cajun dirty rice. Good, but not what I expected.
Finally, try it and go early, because it's packed by 6:30pm.More
