Food used to be good but in the last 5 years quality and quantity went down plus night cook is always stoned.

Dropped in to see old friends and have a brew. True to small town feel, I've always liked this place. Local owners and great service. Thanks Heather. It was good to see you again.

Got into town late and didn't have many choices so stopped at sammies. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed visiting with them since it was after 8 on a Sunday night and we were the only ones there. Unfortunately the staff was the high spot of the visit. The fried chicken was the special but I only got... More

Sammie's is a great place to go to get a good classic cafe meal. Service is prompt, the good very good (especially the home made pies). A breakfast burrito covered in green chile sauce will get you off to a good start. For lunch, I recommend their open faced green chile cheeseburger.

Exploring town in late morning on a Wednesday in February, I tried most of the other restaurants here, using Trip Advisor as my guide, but every single one of them was closed. I was getting really hungry and thought I'd have to drive to Walsenburg just to find food. Then I found Jimmie's. Just before noon, they weren't serving breakfast... More

We stayed in room 8 for one week because it was the cheapest rate in the area. There wasn't much hot water and they didn't change the sheets but once during the week. The room was ok for the price.

This is one of the worst meals we have ever had. Burgers and sandwiches on stale bread/buns. Lettuce was wilted and should have been discarded. Flavor of meat "iffy" and fries greasy beyond belief! The one good part was the pie which appeared to be homemade and was delicious. Only one waitress and service slow.

We were staying at Circle the Wagon RV park (Which is terrific). My son's family from Castle Rock was down visiting with us and we decided to go eat at Sammie's. I had read that their food was good and reasonably priced and it was only a couple of blocks from the RV park. We went in the West door... More

My wife and I came to La Veta for a Sunday adventure and by the looks of the building and placement, we would have never stopped here for breakfast, but after looking at prior reviews we decided to give it a shot. WHAT A TREAT!! We were looking for a quiet mom and pop place to eat and found just... More

We've eaten here pretty often, when visiting the area. It is basic good food, and very much homestyle. Seems to be a favorite with the local people. The pie is excellent, and I'm very picky, when it comes to pie. My son-in-law, says the hamburgers are great.
