For me.. this has become an annual excursion. I get on the big bike...with friends of course and we all head up to the Lodge...we come up over the pass from Evergreen... and its all for the Fresh Homemade pie and Ice Cream while looking...out over Echo Lake. Sometimes.. a sandwich too... but the Hummingbirds and a stroll through the woods near the lodge are a treat too. Been doing this every summer for 8 years... Hands Down the Best Warm Cherry pie you will find anywhere!!More

Fantastic pulled pork sandwich and the pie slices are ENORMOUS! They did a great job adhering to proper COVID precautions. Tons of hummingbirds and a perfect alpine vista to watch while you wait for food.

The third star is for the kind and friendly service. The pies are homemade, served warm (nice touch) but are not gourmet. The avocado toast had way too much garlic and salt in it. The gluten-free bread was good. I peaked at some of the...other diners plates and they didn't look outstanding. The lodge is charming with it's rustic woodwork. Large parties would have no problem spreading out in the ample dining room. The staff needs to be more cognizant of spills on the floor not only near the beverage/coffee area but as they carry items to tables as well. There is a small bar between the gift shop and dining room. The restrooms were clean. There is parking in front as well as the side of lodge. The lodged is closed around October 15th because of the weather.More

Fabulous food not to be expected. Great stop before the climb to the top. Sit at the bar and avoid the wait. Be prepared for huge portions of extremely well prepared food. Everything on our plate was over the top. Fabulous burgers and scrumptious sweet...potato fries Love this place - second only to BeauJos in Idaho SpringsMore

It's off the beaten path a small ways from Idaho Springs, but worth the 15 minute drive. The food was so tasty & freshly prepared. The bison stew was so good! The trout was amazing! My husband & cousins loved their pies!!! So glad we...took the chance on this place! Definitely a must stop. Then after we walked off some of our food around the lake. The views were gorgeous!!! At this stop you get a great meal, astonishing views, & can get up close with nature on the trails!!!More

The restaurant is very conveniently located just before the entrance to the road up Mt. Evans, making it a logical place to have a meal after a visit to the top. The dining area has an outdoorsy feel and seems to fit with the environment...and location. Nothing fancy or sophisticated. If you are seated near a window during the summer look for the hummingbird feeders hanging just outside the windows. When we were there, it was a hummingbird watcher's heaven, with different varieties frequently buzzing around and stopping at the feeders. The food is hit or miss, with some very good items and others not so great. I had the bison chili and was happy with it. My wife had grilled cheese and it was quite good. We shared a piece of cherry pie a la mode for dessert, and it wasn't anything special, although the vanilla ice cream that came with it was excellent. Others at our table were pleased with their selections to varying degrees. If you like bison meat, or even if you just want to give it a try, several menu items include it. I'm stretching a bit with the very good rating, but decided to do so because I liked the atmosphere of the place and the hummingbirds. The food was good but not outstanding and would earn an average rating.More

4th of July early Dinner. Enjoyed the drive. Ended it with Echo Lake Lodge. Meals ordered: Bison and half sandwich with Roast beef. Fish and Chips and a side of Onion rings and a side of the Fried Mac and cheese balls. Don't order the...Fish and Chips. Overcooked, fish dry and hard, Fries were totally a big fail. They were super dry shriveled and thin ..so bad. Onion rings over cooked and hard as well. The best part of this meal was the Mac and cheese balls. Sandwich was boring and had miracle whip on it! Bison stew was okay. So order the Mac and cheese balls and any fresh salad as I suspect they won't mess up a green salad. As for the wheel chair access entrance on the side door ..its straight thru the Kitchen and the Kitchen looked FILTHY! so bad. As for the ambiance ..yes cool and rustic, old and worn. Fun to be there but not to eat there. Plus our bill was like 73 bucks. Waitress was sweet, and the wait staff youthful and far from home. I should have ordered the Cheesy -hamburger medium and without fries and gotten the mac and cheese balls instead of the fries.More

The Lake is beautiful and the lodge is on the lake. The staff was very friendly. Their fresh trout was great. I also had a bison burger with cheese, bacon and peanut butter. When I saw it on the menu, I had to try it...since I had never had peanut butter on a bacon cheese burger before. It was good, but I believe in the future, I would skip the peanut butter on bison, I think it would better on a beef burger.More

At 10,600 feet elevation, this was originally built about 1926 as a lodge and rest stop on the primitive road up Mount Evans. It is about 5 miles from the summit in a beautiful setting. We decided to give it a try. They have very...good sandwiches and burgers, which are priced appropriately to the altitude. It is one of those places you enjoy as much for the surroundings and view as for the food itself. The people there were really friendly and helpful.More

And they did not yet have pie for this season - but the carrot cake was good. Great service - she had just arrived from the Check Republic and was working hard to set up for the season. Sandwiches were also good as was the...hot chocolate.More
