My wife and I ordered via door dash since we are staying the night at a hotel as we pass through. I fee like the food would have been much better if we were there. We ordered a mid tempura appetizer, 5 sushi rolls and a chicken katsu curry. The shrimp tempura in the appetizer and the roll were both under cooked. The shrimp was still translucent. Needed 2 more minutes frying. The veggies for the tempura were okay a sliver of sweet potato, one piece of broccoli and about 5 onion petals. My last curry was good. I got more chicken than I though I would. The curry sauce had a bit of spice to it but was oily and very thin. I was also surprised that it wasn’t served with katsu sauce. The sushi was okay but they only gave us 3 packs of soy sauce for 5 rolls plus tempura. So if you wanna give this place a try go eat there and don’t get it delivered.

Veteran; spent time in Okinawa, I was beyond delighted to find authentic Japanese meals in such a place as GJ (grew up on the western slope). I've been here many times with friends and family because I wanted to share with them the food I enjoyed. I love me some Katsu Currey and it just reminds me of a place I never wanted to leave. I love this restaurant, its location and environment is exactly what I would expect. No showboating with excessive décor or non-traditional menu items. It's a little piece of Nippon that I treasure. Domo arigato gozaimasu!

Every time I go in I plan on ordering ramen, but I just can't resist the sushi. The Tornado roll is especially good. So much fun to go in with a group of friends and ordering a bunch of different rolls to share. The pricing is very reasonable as well. Two thumbs up for sure. It's a nice little hole in the wall joint!

Not a big fan. I called in at 12:45, what I thought was after the lunch rush, to place a very small order. What I got was smaller than I expected, edamame was teeny, miso was tiny, and there’s no eel sauce on the Nigiri.
It shouldn’t have taken 30 to 45 minutes to put this together, I’m definitely not going back.
No soy sauce. No chopstix.
Be ware.

I see a lot of good reviews for the sushi so perhaps I should've ordered that but I tend to avoid all those kitchen-sink rolls and prefer the simpler fare. I had the chicken curry rice. The curry was probably S&B Golden, which I'm fine with, but it was just chicken - meaning no carrot or potato AT ALL - so I was disappointed. For simple block curry it was overpriced.

Great sushi at a responsible price. Staff was very friendly. Restaurant was a little outdated and small but the food made up for the atmosphere.

I always appreciate a good ramen, this provided a great option for that. Their menu has a lot of traditional options and pretty decently priced. There was some miscommunication between the server and the kitchen, but overall was happy with my meal.

Rice was cold and fish was very fishy. They skimp on wasabi and ginger. Yuck. Couldn’t finish meal because of the fishy taste. Will not return. Hadn’t been in a while and I now remember why I hadn’t been. Save your money.

We were looking for good, reasonably priced Asian food in Grand Junction and Kuniko's Teriyaki Grill did not disappoint. We loved the friendly service and tasty entrees. Our party of 4 tried all different teriyaki bowls - salmon, chicken, shrimp and tofu. Each were very good. Very good quality for the price. A hidden gem.

Went here for years, they had a fire and reopened. I was very happy to see a sushi chef when they reopened but they let him go. The replacement Sushi chef was obviously under trained as the sushi came out WITHOUT sauces that are extremely necessary and important to the flavor profile. The employees do not know the difference between Sake and some sort of sweet syrup they have behind the counter, when I complained the new employees didn't seem to care and I still had to pay for it as if it were Sake.
I hope to return and find a new sushi chef in the near future.

Delicious! I was in town for a conference, and ended up eating at a couple of Japanese places (dietary restrictions make that a go-to for me). This was definitely a winner, for Grand Junction and in general. I got a salmon roll and an unagi/tamago roll. The latter was tasty, though the tamago got drowned out by the bold eel sauce. It was a good sauce though - not super-sweet the way Americans often like it. The salmon was just delicious, and really fresh. Both were generous portions - larger than traditional-style rolls, and inside out (rice outside). My husband got ramen, and said that while it wasn't a multi-day broth like you get in Japan, it was still quite good.
We had absolutely no problem with the service. The waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu, and we were served quickly. My one quibble was that she didn't come back after we had finished our food. I would've liked a tea refill while we relaxed. But, that certainly wasn't a big deal.
Another note - prices here were very reasonable, unlike another highly-rated place I'd found in town. The plain-style rolls were I think about $6-7, which is exactly what I'd expect, especially for a larger-than-normal roll.

Man was that Okaku-Don DELICIOUS! Namyohorengekyo....is all I can say to that as I am certain if everyone ate at Kumiko's there would be WORLD PEACE!!!!!!! I know, Grand Junction does not make you think of Japanese food...the location is also very near the St. Mary's Medical Center!!!!!

Kuniko's has upgraded the place since my last visit. The floor still has too many unknown bits (which should have been swept up), but all in all the food is worth the stop. There was a small display case for the sushi (so you can admire before ordering), there was a good special, the service was fairly quick and now with the upgrades the place is a good spot to stop for a bite. The paper crane mobile was a nice touch.

I eat lunch here at least once a month. The food is always good. The place is always clean. The service is friendly and fast. All good reasons to dine at Kuniko's. However, the Ramen is the BEST reason to eat here. There are a few solid options for Ramen in Grand Junction but none as good as Kuniko's. I'm told the other items on the menu are also excellent. Everyone I've dined with has loved it.
