Everyone at the table was happy with their breakfast! The potatoes in particular were seasoned to perfection and crisp. Orders were accurate for our table of 6 and service was very good. Love the patio area. We had a beautiful morning and the garden like setting made for a great breakfast dining experience!

I know people that love this restaurant but it was just o.k. to me. I thought the portions were small and the wait long.

We stopped in for lunch on the recommendation of locals. We were in the mood for salad and tried the Cobb and a smoked chicken salad. Both were excellent, with fresh ingredients and freshly baked bread. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We sat on the patio, and even though it was a warm day, there was a breeze and... More

I would highly recommend this restaurant. Fun atmosphere and wonderful food. They have specialty coffees and the homemade cinnamon rolls are excellent.

We went to the Back Porch Café this past Sunday when our usual breakfast place was closed for some reason. We called ahead for seating and only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. The server appeared pretty quickly for drink orders. She returned to take our food orders in an appropriate time, but other members of the... More

My wife and I came here for lunch one day. I said I knew of a cute little place where the food is great. I was a little embarrassed about the service we received. The guy serving us was so unbelievably rude that we asked to speak to a manager. The same guy explained he was the manager. We then... More

Chorizo burrito had puddles of grease around it. Mimosa was very small and cost $7. Cinnamon roll was ordinary and cool; it seemed a bit old and not homemade.

We visited this wonderful spot as part of a group of about 20. We had the separate outdoor room for our group. Considering our group size and how busy the restaurant was, the service was amazing. The kitchen made a few errors on some orders, but they promptly fixed and a few free cinnamon rolls were handed out as well.... More

I love this place for breakfast. It is far better than the trendier places in the heart of Old Town. They bake their own stuff and they put a little twist in the standard fare breakfast items. I've become addicted to their green chili sauce so if you're like me try their chorizo omelette.

Fine, that sums up the experience here. Long waits between ordering, receiving food, coffee, the bill and the correction to the bill. (We were charged for milk to put in our coffee) The patio is a charming area walled in on the 2 street sides and foliage on the other 2 sides. The menu leans to Mexican influenced items but you... The Backporch Café, established in 1997 by Mike Cooper, was originally a small pie and coffee shop called "Sweetie Pie." After purchasing "Sweetie Pie," Mike reached out to his regulars for suggestions. The name Backporch Café was the one that stuck out. At the time, the area everyone knows as our main dining room was actually a deck that provided outdoor seating. Our indoor seating was available at our bar top or in the back room by our neighboring shop "Lamb Spun." So the name "Backporch Café" seemed a suitable name. At the Backporch Café, we take pride in delivering to our guests our own homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, muffins, biscuits, pies, hamburger buns, dinner rolls, and quiches from our bakery. Where still to this day, owner Mike Cooper bakes from scratch all of these favorites. We even work tirelessly on feeding and keeping our own starter alive. Aside from bringing you fresh baked goods, we smoke all our own meats from pulled pork, pork chops, and pork ribs to chicken and sometimes salmon. We also make our own breakfast sausage and chorizo sausage. It can be a daily chore, but we find it to be well worth it. Even the green chili everyone loves to smother their favorite breakfast items in is made in house daily. We take pride in what we do and want our guests to have the best we can provide, not only in food, but in service as well. Thank you for dining with us. We hope you enjoy!
