My husband and I were guests at the Strater Hotel and dined at the Mahogany Grill on July 23rd. My husband had the Elk Steak and I had the Rib Eye Steak. Both were amazingly delicious. We had great bread, a wonderful baked potato, great wine. The service was impeccable. Marilyn Love

Mahogany is now serving breakfast - not just for patrons, but to locals. A girls morning out resulted in us stopping in to eat. Wolfgang Puck would be proud of the scrambled eggs they served me! I went back last weekend with the husband and tried the omelet. Magnificent eggs again - soft, tender and luscious. And they offer a... More

Superb experience here. Elk is the local big game so was happy to see it on he menu so thought I'd try it. The Chef really knew what he was doing and it was really exceptionally good. Also had the scallops which I love but they never quite seem to have the flavor, bit this time, they were really good,... More

This is an upscale restaurant in Durango. Expect to pay $50-80 per person for dinner and cocktails. The food was excellent. My wife had the pepper steak (not Chinese Pepper Steak) and I had the elk. Both were delicious and cooked perfect. The service was excellent and so were the cocktails (Austin City Limits my personal favorite). The atmosphere was... More

Atmosphere was great, service was fair. My husband had the fish special for the day and said it was one of the best fish entrees he's ever had (on par with Eddie V's in Scottsdale). However, I had the menu item of Seared Sashimi #1 Grade Ahi Tuna. The waiter warned me about the sauce, and I should have listened.... More

Wish I could give better review as good atmosphere and one dinner was very good, but rest was just mediocre. Partner ordered the trout and was excellent, but the appetizer of ahi was awful...mushy tuna paste. Other entree of ravioli was also not very good. very heavy and not fresh. Saw this had good reviews but we were disappointed..

My husband and another couple ate at Mahogany Grille last week while we were visiting Durango. We had a delightful experience. First, the service was fantastic. Our waitress was cheery and excellent and the chef came over twice to chat and see how we liked our food even though the restaurant was packed. Second, the food was excellent too. We... More

July 10, 2016 For 15 years we have had dinner at the Strater the second weekend of July when we attend the annual gem and mineral show. The food has always been excellent and tonight was no exception. The ambiance is wonderful – a bit of the old West at its fanciest. However, service at the Strater has always been... More
