We bought the breakfast coupon from hotel. This was an awesome breakfast. My husband had Rainbow Trout and eggs, I had the Huevos rancheros. Both were the best ever. The atmosphere was very relaxing and laid back before a big day of sightseeing or driving.

Reserved several days in advance for special occasion and the table we asked for was ready for us when we arrived. We had a craving for the weiner schnitzel and elk and were not disappointed, both prepared as ordered. Our server was a young college student who was cordial and attentive.

Located in the Starter, a lovely historic hotel in downtown Durango not to be missed. A la carte dinner is superb. Had their pepper steak special that is a menu staple. Wow, I ate every bite of the buttery-tender beef filet topped with a mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes, and fresh gourmet carrots. Companions had local trout fillet, other beef choices.... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant as it was down the Trip Advisor recommendation list so we didn't see it. I had the Pepper Steak and my wife had the Trout. They were outstanding. Service was great and they have an extensive wine list by both the bottle and glass. I would highly recommend. We will visit again.

the wine list is extensive, the service was attentive, the double cross martini with truffle bleu cheese stuffed olives was super delicious. I had the elk tenderloin which was delicious and served very rare (as requested). The asparagus side was tiny and very over cooked. The potatoes au gratin were very tasty though. I definitely enjoyed my experience but I'm... More

Best dining experience my family and I have ever had. Everything from the service to the food itself was top notch. We started our dinner off with some delicious bread and awesome drinks. My dad had the dirty martini and I quote "This is one of the best martinis I've ever had." Our server was excellent and so accommodating to... More

My husband and I were guests at the Strater Hotel and dined at the Mahogany Grill on July 23rd. My husband had the Elk Steak and I had the Rib Eye Steak. Both were amazingly delicious. We had great bread, a wonderful baked potato, great wine. The service was impeccable. Marilyn Love
