Small diner open for breakfast and a limited lunch menu. Located in the historical district. We had a short wait on a Friday morning. Service was top notch. It was amazing watching the two waitresses work so well together. Mostly counter service with a few...tables. I had the breakfast burrito with the green chili on top. Super yummy. Husband had the cure, their famous dish which is a collection of eggs, meat and potatoes. Only complaint was they had the front door open since it was a nice day and there were a lot of flies I the restaurant and landing on our table.More

DD was our top breakfast spot for decades. The owner and breakfast wizard Gary made “the Cure” legendary. You could only eat half, but you had another great meal to go. He sold the diner and the new folks are trying, but it’s just not...the same. The portions are half the size. The servers were really attentive, but the diner comes in a distant second to Oscar’s.More

There's one table in the front window of this very narrow place. Then there is about 1/4 mile of counter with stools. Every square inch of the walls are covered with memorabilia. They open at 6AM and we were the 1st in at 6:01. By...the time we left an hour later all seats were taken and people were waiting. The staff are wonderful and so is the food!More

This is about my last two visits. I've been dining here for years. The food is amazing, and the place is a wonderful greasy spoon. The servers, however, need to chill out. 1st visit, as previously mentioned, went like this. I had just ordered my...food and left a napkin over my water before going to the restroom. The universal sign that I'm coming back. When I came back, a waitress had removed it and sat two people where I was then moved me 12 seats down in front of the hot flat tops. I am a professional cook, and I did not want to watch people making food on my day off. Disappointing, yes. Is it worth a review? Not yet. Now, with another attempt at the diner, I sat again, ordered food, and was asked again to move seats. This time, I don't know why. An elderly gentleman, also dining solo, took my spot and ordered directly from the cooks. 10 minutes after I ordered, my food wasn't started yet, and he received his meal in just 5 minutes. By the time I got my order, he had finished, paid, and left. To make things worse, in the middle of all that, the server brings me a napkin and knife. No fork. I had to ask her for one 5 minutes after that. Anyway, the food is great. Servers need to calm tf down and focus on customer service a bit more than turning and burning tables.More

Saw all the great reviews so, we tried it. Hash browns half cooked, asked for scrambled eggs in my sandwich, came fried. Bacon and sourdough good but, not $15 good. Gave my friends burrito to someone else, realized their mistake, took it from guy and...handed it to us. It’s a nope for me.More

My wife and I got there just as they were about to close for lunch hours. The cook said “The grill is still open, come on in.” I ordered the fabulous Bonus Burger with hand cut French fries (our waitress Gabby’s recommendation). The fries were...delicious and so was the burger with great tomato, lettuce, onions etc and best of all their home made green diced chilies. What a treat. My wife had a Turkey Club sandwich, also excellent. Our waitress, Gabby was fantastic. She was very friendly, kind, knew the menu well and really made us feel at home with her beautiful smile and attitude. Totally delightful. We will definitely come back next time we are in town. Local diners are the best!More

It is always great to find a place where people are welcomed by employees that really step out of their way to make the experience a joy. I've been to a fair number of diners, but this one really stands out. Carly was our waitress...and she really made the experience with her enthusiasm and understanding. Observing other staff there, I did not see anyone unhappy. I have limitations with my diet, and she took the time to understand them and made my visit there worth it. She even went next door to get something that they didn't have. The food was great! I had a green chili omelette and it was not at all skimpy with the amount of chilis used.More

Authentic old school diner with great food. Obviously frequented by locals with very friendly service. Sit at the bar and watch the cooks prepare your meals. We had breakfast but open for lunch as well. Great menu!

Horrible service, attitude through the roof. Bring back the old D.D. Was told to wait outside, very rudely and then she wondered why I questioned it. She gave me lip, I gave it back, she told us to get the Eff out. Transplants like her...are ruining my hometown.More

This diner is full of wonderful staff, great food and an environment that will take you back to the good old days. More of a locals only establishment, my family and I were not disappointed! If you have an opportunity try the pulled pork. This...place should be on TV.More

Have you ever tasted and/or prepared Durango green chili? The recipe is something to behold, a paella of ingredients. Start with one pound of ground beef and one pound of stew meat. Then add onions, green peppers, minced garlic, tomato paste, diced jalapenos, chili powder,...beef broth, tomatoes with diced green chiles, diced green chiles, kidney beans, sour cream, shredded cheese, tortilla chips, green onions and a 12-ounce bottle of beer. Got it? That's the house specialty at the Durango Diner. Located at 957 Main Avenue, this casual local landmark has been serving breakfast and lunch grub plus home-made green chili and salsa since it opened in 1965. Open from 6 to 2 daily, it's all about Southwestern style. You can't pass up a bowl of green chili, of course. Also sample a home-made cinnamon roll. And how about "The Cure," the Durango Diner's version of Eggs Benedict? It consists of two scrambled eggs, potatoes, cheese, green chili, sausage and wheat toast. Another favorite is corned beef hash and scrambled eggs with hash browns, sausage, English muffin and a cup of green chili. Will somebody please explain why the green chili recipe isn't complete without a 12-ounce bottle of beer, preferably cheap beer? It must add something to the flavor because nobody ever complains.More
