We passed this restaurant while walking around town and decided to go for dinner. The restaurant is very modern in design and sits a lot of people. For mains we... More

The food was spot on. I had fish tacos, which were spectacular. My girlfriend had pizza which was very good as well. We ordered house margaritas that were not good. Basic mix and a shot. Everything else was wonderful.

We enjoyed another fine evening at Chimayo last night. Service and food were great, as is usual. I had my favorite--The chopped southwest salad. As compared to the review from six days ago--We have NEVER had concerns with food quality at Chimayo.

My husband and I were in Durango Saturday evening. We loved eating at Chimayo Stone Fired Kitchen. We sat at the bar in front of the fire ovens. Loved watching the chefs. Great food, great atmosphere.

I had the chopped Southwestern salad, a signature dish with salmon. It looked and tasted great, although I would have liked a dressing without so much sugar. An hour later I was hugging the toilet bowl in my hotel room, retching up that salad. It no longer looked good and tasted awful. Sorry for to much info, but just be... More

Management response:

It is unfortunate that you became ill after visiting our restaurant. However, it is highly unlikely, if not impossible, that our salad was the reason for your illness within 1 hour. We sell dozens of these salads each day as well as an average of 10 lbs of fresh salmon each day with no reported issues, so the reason for... More

Chimayo Stone Fired Kitchen is a contemporary American bistro with a southwestern flair. Fresh salads, creative small plates, artisanal pizzas, and fire-roasted steaks, chicken and seafood are prepared in twin 600+ degree stone hearth ovens in an open kitchen. The Owners have restored the interior of the historic Century Building on Main Avenue, revealing turn-of-the century Carnegie steel support beams, the original maple hardwood floor and decorative tin ceiling tiles, and the original brick wall. These historical elements, along with the expo kitchen, rollup windows, and 35-foot curved bar, create an urban industrial loft setting for a unique Durango dining experience.
