The restaurant looked inviting, so we were excited to go. We saws the reviews, and friends of ours told us there is a cantina upstairs we all wanted to try. Unfortunately, the cantina has different hours, so no drink with our late lunch! We saw...the special was a chili relleno, and ordered their daily special plate, and 2 Carne asada tacos. The relleno was the worst I have EVER tried! The bottom was soggy, cheese wasn't melted and was placed inside in long strips that were hard and unedible! The tacos were not much better with very chewy dry meat, lacking any flavor. The rice was crumbly and flavorless. The black beans were the only tasty, correctly made item. It's not a sit down and order restaurant, but more of a Chipotle-style walk up and order. Needless to say, we left the $25 of food, plus a tip (which seems ridiculous when you stand in line to order, take your own food tray, and then clear your own table)! We ended up going next door for a margarita, beer and Pizza! We left happy and well fed! We will never go to Zia again!More

This will sound picky, but it irritated me and kind of ruined the experience. The person placing the toppings on my burrito scooped half a scoop of rice and I asked for just a little more. No issue. I was then charged for an extra...topping for a 1/4 scoop of rice. You have got to be kidding me. If you can’t give out a full serving of rice or even a bit more rice upon request, then that’s just poor customer service. It costs next to nothing and makes for a great experience. Instead you lost an entire group of people. You might want to look into how Chipotle does it.More

Nice place. Fast service. Great food. They make their own soft drinks and the creamy root beer is the best I ever had. Lots of seating. AC when the temp outside is 90+. oh yeah.

My wife and I were recommended this place when looking for some “semi”-authentic Mexican food. It was edible but pretty disappointing overall. We found it lacking in the flavorful ingredients we are used to in real Mexican food.

This experience was a 3/5 because the place ran out of ice and we had to get ice from the cashier!Although on the plus side the food was really cheap and good. When I asked for food the service was really fast and not delayed.

Staff will often skimp on loading up your burrito so you end up paying more for less. Can't wait till Qdoba comes to Durango. Last time I go to Zia's expecting to be full after eating

Zia’s north Main location has a great plus factor. In addition to the self serve Mexican restaurant on the ground floor, the upstairs contains what is probably the nicest, most comfortable bar/lounge in Durango. There’s a full bar, comfortable guest seating and an outdoor rooftop...seating area as well. Drink prices are reasonable for this area. While the food on the ground floor is on a par or above for Mexican fast food, the real draw for this place is the upstairs bar lounge.More

I ordered a burrito bowl. You get to choose rice, beans, meat, etc. and build it as you go down the line. Everything tasted good. We also ordered chips with the salsa sampler (3 types). The tortilla chips appear to be specifically made for them...and are literally the best tortilla chips I have ever had; crunchy, salty, and very hearty for dipping in salsa and guacamole. The salsas were extremely bland however and really the only negative. We ordered the Mango Habanero (labeled hot), Salsa Verde (labeled as extra hot) and Traditional Mexican (labeled medium). All three were very sweet and had essentially zero heat. The Mango Habanero was essentially just a mango puree...I swear there was no heat whatsoever. That said, the food was good, portions and prices were fair, the restaurant was very clean, and the staff was friendly. I would definitely go back if I lived in the area.More

Thank you for the review! The mango is too hot for me, but I am a wimp! Try the salsa verde next time!

The tortilla chips were amazing. A bit on the denser side and a hint of salt. We purchased the sriracha salt ones to go to try at home. The salsas were excellent but none of them were particular hot. The bowls were a good value....This would be a regular place for me if I lived in Durango. Basically a great local version of a chipotle. Their adobe sauce which was just near the drink station had excellent flavor and was my favor bit of the meal.More

OMG this is so good. Flavor at every turn. This beats Chipotle hands down and I wish it was in my home city. I’m so sorry I’m going to have to go back to my life and not have more Zia Taqueria. If you’re in...the area I highly recommend making this stop. Try their Mexican chocolate cookie while you’re at it. I had the wahoo tacos as listed on the menu with corn tortillas. The spicy mango salsa is so good.More

From start to finish the same process you go through at Chipotle occurs at Zia. But Zia is a step above with only a small uplift in price.

I must be the outlier for this Chipotle wanna be as I see several people seemed to like it on TA. I had a burrito and a small taco. Like Chipotle, you go down the line telling the servers what to put in your taco...or burrito. My taco was with carne asada, which tasted like rubber. My burrito was pork. The burrito wasn't bad, but very bland I thought. My wife liked the refried beans in her burrito, but again, I thought they had very little flavor. All in all I felt the ingredients were not near as good as a standard Chipotle.More

My husband and I ate at Zia Taqueria 3 times (twice for lunch and once for dinner). The food was great and the service was efficient. Loved the lettuce bowls and enjoyed sitting outside.
