I was looking for something different for a friend and I as we visited Denver today. Neither of us had ever been to a "Jewish deli" before, so it seemed like a great idea. It was!
What a popular place. I'm glad we got there...early because there was a 30 minute wait for a table.
The menu had a lot of options. We decided to order a Philly beef and a Reuben on rye and split them so that we had double experiences.
They were both amazing.
HUGE sandwiches! Delicious, flavorful, beautifully-balanced flavors, HUGE. And plenty - did I mention that?
I selected coleslaw as a side. Those who love typical coleslaw would probably love this. I prefer my coleslaw not "goopy" and not overly sweet. This was typical.
Both sandwiches were served with a nice dill pickle quarter.
The reuben came with a delightful horseradish (turned beautiful red by beet juice, I think) and a 1000 island sauce. That was good.
The coffee? meh. I'll definitely skip that next time.
The ambiance? Not the least bit quiet. We were able to carry on a good conversation, but not too easily. Lively, a little loud, lots of movement. That's it's own kind of experience.
Cost? Well, that's hard to measure because it's pretty subjective. I did come home with a little take-home container crammed full of about half of a gynormous sandwich, but it was still a little higher than I would pay on a regular basis. But for the "unique" experience that it was for us, it was worth it. We totally enjoyed it.More
