Have tried short ribs a lot of places . They bring it out on a iron skillet. Lots of gravy to soak your rolls in . . . Best short ribs I’ve ever had

We had a delicious brunch on the lovely patio at this restaurant. Both the food and the service were excellent, and the atmosphere was so relaxing! We recommend it highly!

Went here twice during our trip to Crested Butte. We sat on the front-street side patio for both meals and the service was great both times. For brunch we tried different eggs Benedict dishes and all were terrific. We'd had such a good experience at...breakfast that we went back for dinner. Bacon wrapped dates, buffalo burger, and the short ribs with farro risotto. Every dish was perfect. Can't say enough about the food and the service here and it's probably our new favorite place in Crested Butte.More

I had the venison pasta and my wife had the burger. The shocker of dinner was the side salads. They were vinegrette based and the tomato dressing was wonderful

We would have to say that we had about the worst dinner we've ever had at a restauant. Half of a roast chicken was two pieces with some BBQ-type sauce on them. The BBQ pork ribs were inedible. The Brussel sprouts appetizer was good, however.

Being from Boston area sometimes you can take the boy out of the corn beef. Best sandwich Eva! My wife had fish tacos and we both had cowboy backed beans. Ate outside beside the creek set back from Elk Ave. Highly recommend. Staff top notch....Had burgers, steak and salads. Quality entrees.More

We walked by and said sure let’s try it, No expectations. What a wonderful place to discover. The brussels sprouts were the best we have ever had . Everyone in the group enjoyed their meals and cocktails, not 1 complaint . We knew this restaurant...seemed a little different than a basic small town place . Once we got back to the condo we looked up the chef and discovered he has worked in some top places in the country. We will definitely go back and visit .More

Went for Valentines Dinner- didn’t realize it was Valentines Day- and they were very accommodating. Squeezed us in with all their reservations. Burgers were good. Bison meatloaf was good. Tasty food but a little pricy for what it is.

What I love about Crested Butte in general is that it is separated from the ski village - so it has retained a sense of community. What I love about Coal Creek Grill is that the food is fabulous and it is a place the...locals go. The chef has been trained in Europe, and the breadth of the meals available show. We've eaten here for breakfast and dinner, and it is continually filled, which means people have discovered this gem. Staff is great, owner (and chef) is available for brief chats and thank yous, and I will return here every time I visit the historic town of Crested Butte.More

I arrived at 7:30 pm on a Tuesday evening for dinner, but was told that they were already closed since it my was a slow evening (even though they are supposed to be open until 9 pm). When I told the host that I had...driven for 15 minutes specifically to have dinner at their restaurant, he just shrugged his shoulders as if to say “oh well”. Obviously I won’t be going back.More

We walked in without a reservation. As it turned out they had a table for 3 available. We were seated fairly quickly. They had a good wine selection and the food was very well prepared. Those bacon wrapped dates were amazing.

The good- had a reservation and was seated promptly. The bad- everything else. The waitress was not pleasant at all, they were out of items. It took forever for drinks and took forever for food to come. Service was slllllooooow. They had salmon on the...menu with a sauce I could not eat. I asked kindly if they could serve me a piece of salmon without the sauce. I would pay more etc I was told no they marinate all the salmon.... okay I get it. I asked if I could have the steak but instead of potato could I have Brussels sprouts i would be happy to pay more- I was told no they can only give me a salad. Okay so can I order the $11 Brussels sprout app to come out with my dinner. Until it was sent out as an appetizer and out dinner didn’t come out for another 1/2 hr after that. Steak I asked for medium and it was literally bloody and red. I ate three pieces that looked done. Refused to send back because quite frankly the rest of our party was ready to leave about 45 minutes before that! Seriously disappointed. Completely wrong menu item served to my husband.More

Every other place in town had a long wait. I don’t know why Coal Creek didn’t. The trout was excellent and the waiter, Drake, gladly substituted the side I preferred. Our daughter’s hamburger was delicious and again the waiter substituted side salad with house-made Ranch...for the fries. My only complaint was that a restaurant of this caliber should box your to-go for you, not offer you a box so that you can do it yourself. All in all, a very good experience.More
