About
The Tommyknocker Tavern was established in 1999 by a group of locals in the historic mining town of Creede, Colorado. Over the last thirteen years, it has grown to be a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, featuring great live music all summer and fun local events throughout the winter! The Tavern's restaurant (The BBQ Bistro) serves great food in the casual setting of this historic Creede building with a spacious back patio. Delicious sandwiches, salads and our famous BBQ Ribs go great with our selection of both locally and globally brewed beers.

Tommy knockers had the best ribs and they were right that you need to reserve them in advance because they do sell out, now I see why. The beans and Mac n cheese were great and we love the barbecue sauce.
Jeff was absolutely the best, like their ribs! A shout out to
Paul, Nick and Wyatt, all hard working employees. Thanks again for working.
I WOULD RECOMMEND.

I wish I could give Tommyknocker’s a better review as our Caldera brisket sandwiches and chips and salsa (spicy!) were delicious, but the lack of service here would make me go elsewhere next time. All the employees seemed to have a chip on their shoulder and didn’t want to help their customers. We were told to wait for a table to open and grab it, which is difficult to spot when dining is on different levels. Tables were not wiped down between customers, our appetizer came after our sandwiches were delivered, our waiter never came back and asked how everything was, and we had to flag him down for the check. Perhaps they are struggling finding help, but they need to work on customer service.

Tommyknocker Tavern was the only bar in town open after 10 pm. Everything else closed up early.
Pretty typical local bar at night.
No music when I visited.
Disappointing menu. Never been to a bar that doesn't do French fries at night. Not sure why they can't do pizza at least to 10 p.m.

Today was our 36th anniversary and because of Covid-19, our choices for somewhere special to eat was extremely limited. We ended up here. We sat at the table closest to the door and there were flies everywhere. We were seated by the female bartender (who was drinking a beer behind the counter). She took our drink order, which was prompt. Our male waiter (also drinking a beer behind the counter) was engaged with 2 female patrons at the bar, but was attentive when we flagged him down. One couple at the door finally left because no one acknowledged they were there, and a male gentleman at the table next to us was so unimpressed, he went outside to sit on a bench while his wife and son got a sandwich. The chips and salsa were below average. I got a turkey/bacon sandwich with a side of Kraft macaroni and cheese and a Dr Pepper. The mac and cheese was the highlight, followed by the Dr Pepper. My husband got a slab of ribs with potato salad and cole slaw. He said the ribs were very good, as was the slaw, but the potatoes in the potato salad were not completely cooked. Also a vodka martini (not his favorite). I must say that this place was filthy! The tables were sticky, the floors were dirty and the condiment containers and napkin holder on the table had not been cleaned in a very long time. No employees were following Covid guidelines (masks or social distancing). We would never return here. Next time we would head over to the Blue Moose. The atmosphere alone was a huge improvement.

They were very busy when we stopped in for lunch. The patio area was dog friendly. Our dog and several others were present. I ordered the Molly S sandwich, it was good, but not spicy at all and didn’t feel like it tasted anything like described on menu. Would recommend.

It's a local place. No you don't have to fight your way in/out, but a good no frills place for a cold drink and well prepared food. Most of the food prepared on their outdoor grill.Chicken wings were a great start. Grilled and not the dove wings you get elsewhere. I have eaten here, and maybe had a few drinks here over the years, and it never disappoints. Packed during the summer. Great just after the car show and during all the fall colors. Just a good no frills place to get a quality burger and a drink.

Severely lacking in beef. BBQ ribs are only on Tuesdays despite sign out front. Brisket nachos have almost zero brisket on them. Go to Kip’s if you want real good.

We stopped in for lunch while driving the Silver Thread Byway. We ordered a BLT and the okey dokey sliders. Both were delicious! After driving up to the pass, we headed back to Alamosa and decided we enjoyed our sandwiches so much that we’d stop for a repeat to-go order for our dinner. Loved the unique ceiling decor. Bartender was friendly and courteous. Buy a beer for the kitchen while you’re there!

Waited til Tuesday for "Rib Day" and were disappointed. More like some brisket on top of 3 little bones. Small portion of slaw had no dressing, just dry cabbage. Same size portion of potato salad was pretty good. Wouldn’t return.

This restaurant was dirty, had a pornographic picture on the wall in the men's bathroom ( the ad said kid friendly ), spent 74.00 on sub par food and service. My daughter was the one who paid and chose not to leave a tip, they took one anyway, 15.00 without her permission. I am appalled at their treatment of their customers and by rights, the health department should be called, and I just might do it before someone gets sick.

Decor hanging from ceiling says it all; classic old mountain bar with good sandwiches made onsite. Pricing is wrong as everything has gone up; Sandwich & chips $16 range. Limited staff which is the norm nowadays, but attentive.

I'm not sure what we were expecting. But some how fell short. We were the only ones in the place on a Wednesday @ around 11am. The bartender seemed annoyed with our presence. He kept reminding us what they didn't have that was on the menu. The drinks weren't bad and lunch was okay!

So, my family went here today, and a local who was occupying a table would not let my family sit down. My daughter overheard the local say, well it's ok, "we are grandfathered in". I am a grandmother and have been in Creede for the summer since 1966. I was in a highchair in Marshall Park, my mother washed our clothes in at the washateria next to the Ramble House. My parents hauled wood, and water. We didn't take a bath but once a week. I took my children my children there in the Summer. Creede is Santa Claus to my kids. My lovely daughter took her family, they could have gone anywhere, to share that special tradition. She literally started crying when she got drove to the gates of San Juan Ranch and it was closed. My son resides most of the year there. She takes her family to this establishment, and a local person pretty much says you're not welcome. They're Texan and said, "we're grandfathered in". If you had bothered to check your History, Colorado was Texas. My lovely daughter is an executive for 3 restaurants, and a Historic Hotel. Her grandfather took her to Creede. She's grandfathered in legitimately. We aren't rich, but we could spend our money elsewhere, but Creede is our home. The behavior of a so called "local" is just unacceptable.
