Limited seating inside and a couple of tables outside. Try the combination with tamales and green chili. It was quite good with just the right amount of heat. Chips and salsa was a little disappointing. I like a bowl of salsa for dipping, not a squeeze bottle for squirting.

We were on business travel and happened to visit as we were sight seeing over the weekend. This was noted as one of the best local restaurants when we looked them up. Authentic food that will not disappoint. The seating is limited inside and outside but it is worth it for this awesome food. The staff was nice and friendly... More

What a great little restaurant!! Good cheap eats. Would highly recommend the tamale in the husk! I wish I had just ordered a few of those! They were so good! The beef tacos and cheese enchiladas were really good too. Would definitely be back if we lived in Colorado Springs.

As a downtown institution, I'm ashamed I hadn't visited sooner. We went in on an early Friday afternoon to grab some dinner to-go; there were only 2 people ahead of us in line. The cashier was very friendly, and behind her I saw piles of fresh tortilla chips in trays. We brought our chicken enchilada and two tamales (one drowning... More

I've been to El Taco Rey before but it has been many years since my last visit. When I saw my friend had posted on Facebook she was dining there, I told this is where I wanted to have lunch too. :-) Well, the food was still great has I remember and I enjoyed the fellowship with my friend. El... More

This restaurant has very nice employees and enjoyable, authentic food. Unfortunately serves only Pepsi products from the fountain. The most significant issue with this wonderful place is the crowded seating that - in the wintertime - really hampers the enjoyment of the food. In summertime, there are outdoor tables - which must help alleviate the crowding inside. I visited during... More

I work rather close....if you can call them and place an order they will have your order waiting for you. They are extremely busy during the lunch hour yet when you try their food you will understand why this little hole in the wall does so well. The good here is very good (and Authentic). If you are a big... More

I love this place. First the bad: small capacity, line to order, styrofoam plates/plastic utensil. I suppose you could look at the positive side of these things and say it adds character and a local feel- and you'd be right. The good is that the food is amazing! I had a carne asada burrito smothered in green chile....yeah. Super amazing.... More
