My family and I dined here for lunch one day, and while the experience wasn't awful, it wasn't great, either. Don't let the location fool you - it may be inside a strip mall next to a smelly bar, but the interior is very clean...and well-decorated! Our server, while nice, tried to "impress" us by memorizing our orders; however, he had to clarify our order four times and my entrée was still wrong. He blamed the "loud music..." just write the order down. This establishment offers a good selection of Asian-based drinks, but doesn't have a great alcohol selection. The menu itself was very large and offered a variety of both sushi and hot dishes. My family ordered the Snow White and Dragon Roll, and said it was good. I had cream cheese wontons...which were outstanding! Then, the entrees came. The ramen was decent, but there were too many extras and not enough noodles. I ordered fried tofu as the topping, but I received thin-sliced ham instead, which was so fatty that it immediately killed my appetite. We usually eat most of the food on our plates, but a lot of food was left behind this time. Disappointing. Will be trying a different ramen place in the future.More

Scary location, small, dirty, smells like cigarette smoke, and then the fun started! My Gyoza app came out somewhere between room temp and cold, my teriyaki bowl was one of the smallest portions I’ve had anywhere and extremely bland. It was literally a couple bites...of chicken and rice...nothing else. Two in our party had sushi rolls and I was not impressed there either. The bill for Four was $120.00 with tip and I left disgusted and hungry.More

We ordered take out. First time with this place...I’m almost reticent to leave a review, because sometimes when you find an amazing place, you want to keep it to yourself (Introverts unite...in our own homes, by ourselves, lol). But seriously: my sushi roll was awesome,...my hubby and daughter loved their ramen. The food was well presented, cooked perfectly, excellent flavors and heat, and fortunately we only live a minute from the restaurant, because getting it home was an exercise in restraint. 😇 Go, enjoy, and spread the word! (I was going to take pix, but it smelled so good I forgot!!)More

I’m not royalty really, oh but if I were queen you bet I would come here with my court and several bushels of merry cash! What I really am is a writer - one who needed the perfect spot to celebrate the release of her...new book. I could not have chosen a better spot! And it was only due to another review I had read in a local paper of Osae and not because I knew of its existence by my usual means (careful research, word-of-mouth, synchronicity type random drive by, menu in my mailbox or in my porch door ...) Exuberant and peppy service - even heading into the evening dinner rush, and rush it did and our server remained pleasant and attentive. 5 stars, easy. Loved the atmosphere, too - open and inviting, cozy and welcoming. Easy 5 stars again. I went overboard on the food and thank goodness I did! I ate away any residual bad feelings of the week and jumped into my celebration like the eager and joyful little foodie I am! Thai ice tea? Check. Large Asahi? Check. Miso soup? Perfectly warm and salty? Check. Two Indonesian plates to share that were also new to me? Lemper and Batagor - check! A smoky short ribs entree w/sticky rice? Check. Two rolls: rainbow and sweet potato, two nigiri orders: white tuna and inari? Check! Tiramisu for dessert? Check! Checks all around and EVERYTHING was 5 Stars for taste, texture, and presentation. Amazing! That almost never happens. Standout food: batagor. If you try nothing else, just try this dish. It’s the dish I would use to turn my own cuisine-skeptic pals around. The leftover sauce alone could also easily replace (in one swoop) my multiple go to dish-fixers (hot sauce, salsa, sesame seeds). 6 stars. We’ll just have to give an extra star in this case. Off-the-beaten path by the Peterson AFB exit and totally worth the drive. One of the highlights of Colorado Springs. Highly recommended.More

Well, if you think that OSAE is a Japanese restaurant that people really enjoy, you'd be partially correct. On the menu is a representative assortment of excellent Indonesian dishes that I have not found anywhere else in town. My family decided to try this new...restaurant for lunch upon the recommendation of a fellow we have known for years from Jakarta. The owner (Edgar) and staff were personable and the service was top notch. The place was very busy just 15 minutes after it opened on Sunday at noon. We ordered an assortment of appetizers and Indonesian entrees and shared them. Each was flavorful and authentic. All were mild for anyone's palate and chili sauce was added for a bit more heat for my palate. The whole family looks forward to a return visit and this new restaurant has our praise.More
