I have to admit I have been a huge fan of the Black Cat for years but the farm dinners raise it up to another level. The food is fantastic as always, but now you are in an amazing location with wonderful views and it just makes the whole experience magic and in the days of Covid you are also kept a good distance from other diners. Value is always hard to quantify when it comes to a restaurant but for the price of admission, we got a welcome drink a welcome dish of olives and beans and bread. An appetizer plate that had three different items including squash blossoms which I just love. an incredible main course of pork tenderloin and roasted potatoes that were just dug up that day and with a sides of tomatoes, peas, cauliflower and carrots all fresh and amazing and everything was followed up by an amazing dessert, all three of us walked away stuffed, and very satisfied belly, heart, and mind. SO yeah it was worth the price!

This is a must-go-to place. We were a party of 7 celebrating a private wedding dinner. We had the sunset view of the mountains and farm. You hear of farm to table in many places, here the table is in the farm. Don't miss it. For $80 we were served multiple courses with bread that was milled on premises. The kitchen is attached to what looks like an old tool shed giving the place a rustic look. Each dish was as great as the previous one. The one miss is their high priced wine list. (and I know and love wine) We had a OK sparkling rose to make a toast but it was not worth $72. Their varieties of various micro brews were spot on with fair prices. Service was flawless and caring. We will put this on the list to go back to when visiting family.

Enjoying a romantic dinner at the restaurant in downtown Boulder has long been one our favorite experiences in the Boulder dining scene. Because of COVID-19, the family has moved their operations to their farm, which is the regular source of much of their usual farm-to-table cuisine. What a treat! From the scenery to the farm animals (including kittens!), we thoroughly enjoyed our farm dinner. The menu was prix fine and included a colorful and thoughtful array of delights. Highly recommended.

One of my fondest experiences. I chose the wine pairing with courses. I don't let many pair for me but their wine director do so and he was wonderful. An expert comes out and explains every course. Even the owner comes out and explains the farm-to-table entre. This place is one hell of a good ride. Go there and bring a wallet full of hundreds. It will be worth it.

Great location, atmosphere and quality fresh food! Went in knowing it was pricey but found it to not be worth the price for what you get. Friendly staff and beautiful location. Needs a little better value for what you get.

We did the tasting menu and it was fantastic. We sat next to the open kitchen watching the staff prepare the dishes and it was artwork. Food was delicious. The service was excellent. Would definitely eat here again.

We only go here for special occasions, and have been here several times in the last few years. We like to order the chef's tasting menu, as you get "surprised" by what the chef has prepared. We were disappointed this time. The food was good, even very good at times, but with a total of 3 drinks and the tasting menu for two, the bill came to $250 plus tip. For that rate, everything should have been exquisite, not just very good. In addition, they take a team approach to serving, meaning you get about 6 different people at your table throughout the night, which we found jarring. Finally, there was too long of a gap between courses. The entire meal took 2.5 hours. We left disappointed, and sadly realized we won't be back.

I do not like Seafood, Lamb or Veal and that greatly limits my menu choices. I just find the food a little to "fancy" and not as filling for my tastes.

A wonderful dining experience The servers and the wine list was quite good. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because at the price point that this establishment is located at the food could have been a little bit more upgraded. The meat was good but not excellent the sauces were slightly too salty. But the service and ambience overcame most of these issues.

There were 7 of us last night(11/18/19) to celebrate hubby and dad's big 85......plus 2 family friends.
4 had the tasting menu....3 ordered a la carte. We arrived at 5:30 PM and certainly by the time we left at around 8 PM + the restaurant was pretty full for a Monday evening. The four who ordered the tasting menu did not know what they were going to get. However......I think most or all of the courses came from the a la carte menu....and if you look at THAT......one can decide if meal will be hit or miss.
Hubby and i ordered a la carte and shared the carrot and squash soup. Frankly, we were not elated. the bread that came to the table was SUPERB...and combined with the olive oil on the table......well....that would have been enough for me!
Hubby (the birthday boy) and i shared the mulefoot pork.($38). it came with spatzle, roasted carrots, sauerkraut braised cabbage and beet ketchup. The pork was dry......the spaztle did not melt in your mouth and there was one taste of something that was not good.
SIL had the a la carte risotto. He generously gave me some and i liked it MUCH. He also had the salad on the menu beforehand. He seemed to like it. A friend had the premium tasting with his tasting menu. Knowing his wines.....HE was in heaven. Son does not really like fish or lamb.....but those were two of the food tasting servings. Again.....hit or miss. The birthday boy did have a glass of wine and adored it. AND the birthday boy had the flourless chocolate cake for dessert. i thought it was delicious.
I liked the fish that son gave me a taste of .........but the food did not stand out for us....the dining room is lovely, creating great ambience.....and the waitstaff is MORE THAN superb. Fir us two....THAT was the highlight of the evening......PLUS the bread!
Son has been here several times.....always having the tasting menu. For 5 of us it was a first.
I have an old saying.......different strokes for different folks!
Glad daughter and son picked up the check.......NOT inexpensive. For our party of 7....15% gratuity was added to the bill...............at least another 5% was added because of the outstanding waitress we had.
Do book a table at Black Cat......you just may find it an outstanding food experience.

We had the most amazing dining experience. The food is art and inviting. Everything was delicious. It’s a pricey meal but it’s worth it. Our server was the most inviting and attentive server we’ve had in a long time. The cocktails were great. I had the striped bass with butternut squash and some other vegetables. Let me tell you it was perfect! If you want a nice treat go here!

The reviews are correct...the Black Cat is exceptional. It is truly a culinary experience. The decor is eclectic and charming and I loved the open kitchen watching the chefs prepare some of the most artfully presented dishes I have ever been served. My son had the tasting menu which was divine and my husband and I chose from the ala carte' menu. The sauces were colorful and tasted lovely and were prepared from ingredients fresh from their farm. Each course was described perfectly in detail so this was truly a dining experience for the all the senses. No..it is not inexpensive, especially the tasting menu, but this is a special dining experience. We were visting our recently transplanted son in Boulder and celebrating his son's 30th birthday. We will definitely go back on a future visit.

I have heard good things about this place and decided to go there for a business meeting because I needed a place that would be quiet enough for a good business discussion. They have a table for 4 in a little alcove in the back and it was absolutely perfect for us. We enjoyed the charcuterie, cheese board, and foie gras for starters. The three guys I was with ordered the harvest salad and they looked BIG and yummy but I passed because it would have been too much food after the starters. For entrees three of us got the Colorado striped bass and it was fantastic. My CEO got the duo of bison and it looked great as well. Even the wine by the glass was awesome (the cheapest white is $14 per glass). The menu was smallish but good. Maybe next time I'll try the tasting menu. It was worth every penny, but I'm glad my company was picking up the check because it was all on the pricey side, but that's what you expect for fresh, local food.

Went to Black Cat for dinner. Did the tasting menu. Not only were they able to do it gluten free but hands down one of the best meals of my life. Spring for the tasting and the wine pairing. Totally worth every single penny.
