Small spot with small patio. We appreciated the very attentive focused waitstaff. Weekend breakfast had yummy thick slices of bacon. Disappointed with potatoes -- one inch french fries. Would have preferred home made hash browns, etc. We tried to book online, but their website stated that nothing was available until 1pm. We stopped by early in the hopes of a... More

What a delightful find amidst so many wonderful dining choices in Boulder. The pomme frites are delicious and served with three different dipping options. There are a variety of salad options (all fresh and yummy!!), excellent appetizers (try the beet and goat cheese option) and carefully selected entrees in a wide price range. The wine menu is extensive. Serving staff... More

Mateo's was one of the first top notch restaurants and, although it has lots of competition, it's hard to beat. Just the right size with a beautiful patio. The seabass and the chicken pom fritte was just right. Our waiter - complete with pony tail and limp handle bar mustache - was a bit of a space cadet but all... More

Took my friend to Mateo tonite the day before his birthday. Great food, great service...highly recommended! Amy the bartender was great, wines by the glass were very good, sit at the bar if you can!

Hadn't been to Mateo for several years, so chose it for a low-key anniversary dinner. Able to book online and seated promptly although we were early. Were not asked if we wanted to eat inside or outside. Seated at a small four-top table and very glad we were not seated at one of the tiny two-tops - a little too... More

Amazing Poulet frites! Third time having the same dish. Service outstanding without being overbearing.

We enjoyed an amazing meal here for a birthday celebration. The food was excellent; I savored every bite. Our server was attentive and punctual. Unlike many of the quality restaurants in Boulder, Mateo was QUIET! This is a huge plus for me.

This is my favorite restaurant in Boulder. The service is incredible. We had a delightful salad with a quail's egg on frisee lettuce. Beef cheeks practically fell apart they were so succulent. Dessert was pot du chocolat. So warm, gooey and yummy.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is elegant, plates are beautifully arranged, and service is of high standard. All positives but expected for the level of the restaurant and prices. Food was a bit of a let-down, though. OK, but nothing to really write home about, my grilled fish fillet was a bit too greasy and salty, flattening and masking the... More

Mateo provides a short but adequate menu of fantastic French cooking. They use locally sourced ingredients which rotate seasonally and by availability. The wine list is nice, providing both by the bottle or by the glass. The charcuterie plate is a great starter. The freshly prepared frites will enhance any meal and the pot o' chocolate (with molten center) is... More
