Mateo is a little bit of the beaten track and doesn't seem to get the notoriety of some other places, but it's really good. Terrific for brunch. Good art on the walls, too. Populated by locals who know a good thing. Visitors should check it out. A real piece of Boulder.

The right place to select for the NYE party with festive balloons galore! The fries are fantastic - world class actually. The chicken was done perfectly. Extensive wine list and great desserts...a great Boulder getaway.

Mateo is a gem. The food is wonderful and the menu changes just enough to keep you coming back. Staff is friendly and engages at just the right level - meaning if you want more you get it, if not, they will be invisible.

Winter dining -- be prepared for noise. The young people gravitate towards these "lively" restaurants, but if you want to have a conversation, go elsewhere. Compared to other nationally known Boulder restaurants, the food here is B+. Spare me the fries! Summer/fall is a different story: their outdoor seating is so pleasant, you can have a real conversation.

This is not a burger place per se, but if you are craving a fantastic burger at lunch time, this is the best in town. Served with excellent fries and a variety of toppings. Other lunch options are fantastic as well. (Haven't had dinner here in a long time.)

My son moved to Boulder recently and Mateo is one of his favorite restaurants. We dined there when visiting. The ambiance was good. Even though the restaurant was full on a Saturday night, the noise level (high ceilings) enabled us to converse easily. The wine steward was outstanding! All but myself (a pescatarian) had the highly rated burger which came... More

We enjoy sitting at the shared table by the window, sharing multiple plates. The mussels are the best in Boulder! A fun, low-key but pretty place with friendly, professional service and yummy treats..

This is a great French restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They have a lovely outside courtyard when the weather is nice. I always prefer to be inside where the tempeture is always nice; and, in summer cool. They not only have great french food; but, they have an outstanding list of French wines, sparkling, blanc, rose', and rouge. They... More

My friends from France got their anniversary celebration at this restaurant. They had great expectations as the reputation and price were high. They both ordered rabbit and veggies. The water was delayed and so was the food. When they got the rabbit was disgusting, the veggies were like from a can, absolutely flavorless, and the rabbit was scarcely in the... More

Small spot with small patio. We appreciated the very attentive focused waitstaff. Weekend breakfast had yummy thick slices of bacon. Disappointed with potatoes -- one inch french fries. Would have preferred home made hash browns, etc. We tried to book online, but their website stated that nothing was available until 1pm. We stopped by early in the hopes of a... More
