I went to Jax expecting great things and was disappointed in the price/quality equation of our dining experience. It's a cool place and the waitstaff was attentive, the food however was average and over priced. I'd suggest going there for happy hour to get some oysters and a beer vs. dinner. There were 5 of us and that was our... More

My wife and I were visiting Boulder and decided we were in the mood for awesome seafood. We had a terrific dinner at the bar at Jax while hanging out with some locals who clearly know this place is one of the best. Alaskan Halibut with summer veggies was cooked perfectly complemented by Sonoma Cuterer Chardonnay. I was so hungry... More

JAX (with the help of overnight air delivery) continues to consistently demonstrate that even in the landlocked high desert there is very fresh fish and seafood, beautifully and knowledgeably prepared, to be found. Small, very popular, and a great, crowded bar for your wait for a table, unless you get there early.

So your in a land locked state and think, no way am I eating oysters, fear not Jax's is no ordinary land locked fish house. No matter what you order it will be tasty. As a former resident that now lives on the coast, I've never been disappointed, so go without fear and enjoy all the great menu items.

I've been a fan of Jax since the day they opened. I don't live in Boulder, so I visit about 2-3x year. I think somewhere along the way, in 14' and 15', Jax had lost its way. The kitchen's quality level had slipped from its usual high level of quality. It didn't suck by any standard, it had just slipped.... More

From the start let me say that I would hesitate to go back again. With that said when we made our 5:45 reservation (nothing else available until 8:00) we were wondering what wee might do to kill time until our 7:30 concert. That turned into a near issue of wondering if we would get out in time to make it... More

As coastal residents, we were a bit suspicious of a seafood restaurant in the mountains. (Sorry Jax, we're late to the party.) But....the great reviews and "being away from home all summer cravings" overrode the misgivings. Good decision! Every bite of every dish was scrumptious. We chose NS raw oysters from about 15 varieties offered, seared halibut with a tasty... More

On Saturday evening I walked up Pearl street to Jax and foundthe restaurant busy with a very friendly staff. Since I was dining alone I chose to sit at the bar. They featured some crafty cocktails and I really enjoyed mine. They have fresh fish flown in everyday and they offer a large variety of oysters and some nice combo... More

This was a truly specular find. I ate there three nights over 9 days with two different groups of people. Each time we ate at the bar, exact same food as the main restaurant but with more interaction between the bar staff and fellow dinners. Over the course of the many days I tried or sampled over half the menu.... More

Went on a Sunday night early and was so happy to see that they had happy hour until 6pm. The happy hour offered many amazing options. To start we shared Calamari (amazing!), tuna (small but the flavored were fantastic), oysters were delicious and big and the gumbo was good. We then had the sour dough bread, which is a must....
