My god, the food! Can’t recommend La Table enough! There was nothing we could, or would fault from our experience here. The backdrop and the atmosphere are stunning as you are seated by the super friendly staff - we had the pleasure of being waited by Pravin 😊
The complimentary prawn wanton was a lovely touch (hubby ended up with two as I don’t eat seafood - he was just devastated 😂)
Having never tried it before I decided to have the froie gras, and hubby the lobster bisque.... just lovely. Both were such beautiful delicate dishes packed full of flavour.
Mains... well we didn’t want them to end... the duck breast was cooked to perfection and paired so well with the sweet potato mash, and hubbys fillet was melt in the mouth delicious.
Didn’t have a lot of room left but had to find a way to fit in the apple tarte tartin - soo glad I did as it was divine.
We were super impressed by all facets of this restaurant, thank you so much for a lovely evening Pravin and your wonderful team

We were in this restaurant for our last evening in Mauritius and it was a full success. Our waiter, Thannen, did a great job, he was very sympathic and explained everything needed.
The dining experience was very good, food quality was great and also the arrangement of the food fits the restaurant class perfectly.
I just can recommend this for everybody who wants to habe a great evening in Mauritius.
A small spectacle were also the fruit bats flying around in the trees in the sunset like small batmans.
A big thank to the team, the cooking and our waiter Thannen, this was a great evening.

We were invited for a wine tasting and had lunch organised by HVC, The welcome, the aperitifs and the south African wines were just to our satisfaction.
We had a four course-meal lunch with different wines from different regions.
we will wait for another grand moment to taste

I had heard good things about this “fine dine” restaurant, so I was excited to dine there with my friends today. Unfortunately, our experience was nothing short of a disaster. It seems we picked the wrong day to visit, as there was a wedding happening. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that we were unwelcome.
The staff was incredibly unfriendly, and it felt as if they were looking at us with anger for having the audacity to show up during their special event. This was odd, considering the restaurant was still open for regular dining.
Our server was particularly unpleasant. She didn't smile or make any effort to engage with us. The tension in the air was palpable, and it made for an uncomfortable dining experience. We ordered our food and drinks, hoping that the quality of the dishes would make up for the inhospitable atmosphere.
Unfortunately, that was not the case. Our server slammed our food and drinks on the table with such force that it was hard to believe it wasn't intentional. We tried to make the best of it, but the situation only got worse. Our coffee and desserts took ages to arrive, and our server never once asked if we needed water or anything else during our meal.
It's rare that I leave a restaurant feeling so disappointed, but this experience was truly abysmal. It's hard to believe that a restaurant with such a good reputation could deliver such a terrible experience. I understand that weddings are special occasions, but treating regular customers with such disdain is simply inexcusable.
I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I'm deeply disappointed that my friends and I had to endure such a frustrating and unwelcoming experience.

We came for lunch today for late birthday lunch and this is our 3rd visit there
We were 6 people and ordered our food.
The food was nice and freshly made but all adults were served their food first while my 4 year old kid had to wait more for his food to arrive.
In the same way drinks served to adults first then to the kid and I believe kid should be given priority
Secondly this restaurant does not show any values to animals. While most tourist love animals and high gastronomic restaurant like that said not allow to feed dogs. Where are all the leftover food and what’s wrong with feeding the voiceless
So many big hotels are helping animals and our animals deserve respect and care.

Thank you for your review. As we really care about each and every one of our guests, we checked on the camera this morning.
In the kids menu, a Labourdonnais juice, water or soft drink is included. You have requested a drink that is not in the kids' menu : a freshly squeezed fruit juice. This takes more time to prepare than a soft drink or water. We served it at the same time as the adult drinks. Then, you asked for the ice cubes to be removed, so by the time we took them off, it took an extra more minute.
For the child's meal, indeed, it came ( we timed it on the cameras ) 4 minutes after your plates. We do apologise for this.
Concerning the dogs :
We do love dogs. However, we are in a public place. For the safety of all, especially children, we can't afford to encourage dogs to settle in the restaurant, and therefore feed them.
Imagine if your child goes running in the garden and got biten by one of them ? Who will be responsible ? You or me ?
We also talked after your lunch about the Chalta tree, and you were happy. In fact, you mentionned in your review : "the food was nice and freshly made"
Third time you have come to the restaurant and you have always been satisfied. And because we do not feed the dogs and that your child got his food 4 minutes later, you literally shoot us down.
Madam, as you are living in Mauritius, you are no doubt aware of how difficult it is at the moment to get products. We are fighting everyday to always offer quality to our guests.
Your review hurts me personally, but that will not stop to welcome you again with pleasure next time.

We had a wonderful lunch with friends in the restaurant at the Labourdonnais. Initially it had been planned to eat at Grand Baie but it started to rain so much that we decided to have our meal here instead. I had a delicious braised lamb. Prices are not exaggerated and the service is very professional. The headwaiter “Suraj” was charming and very friendly. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

Planned my anniversary from San Francisco and thanks to Ms. Kajal, the reservations were done flawlessly. The signature Menus Royal and Romantique were excellent. Although it was raining that evening, having the Chateau as background made the event even more romantic.
Only one minor nit - the dessert was served with a soup spoon. I did not mind but one of my guests asked to enjoy the fantastic crème brûlée with a dessert spoon and only a coffee spoon was available…. Would have loved to have ended the dinner on a perfect note.
I will definitely go back and am looking forward to giving a perfect note at that time.

The food, a 100% pure vegetarian cuisine requested by us, was par excellence.
The service was great and we weren't bothered by anything. Usually, my concern in any open space resto is exposure to mosquitoes which I suffer from due to some allergies. These were particularly taken care of by the Resto.
The only improvement to be made is the vegetarian birthday cake. The vegetarian vanilla massepain requires expertise and at the level that the Resto's operating, I believe it should be able to offer flawless "patisserie" as well.
Overall, a must-go resto 👌

We held our engagement and a small dinner there. Chef Fabio de Polio and his team were absolutely wonderful and paid attention to the smallest details. It was a gorgeous setting and the food was fabulous. We had a magical night.
I’d recommend this place to anyone without the slightest hesitation.

This restaurant is NOT vegan friendly. It is highly rated but relies on its looks vs substance. It has Vegetarian options yes, but not vegan. I called ahead and asked if they could create something for me aside from the only menu option ‘vegetable curry’ which is almost always in Mauritius, the ONLY option on the menu offered for vegans! (There are only so many unimaginative vegetable curries a person can eat!). I was assured by the chef he would create something special. For Rs 773.91 (US 17.91) I was given a starter sized plate of grilled aubergine, bell pepper and chou chou on a smear of butternut coulis with a few sunflower shoots. No protein, no imagination. Very disappointing. I left hungry. My fellow diners enjoyed their meal of duck breast although they expected more veg than butternut coulis, two decorative breadfruit chips and a roast pearl onion. They also enjoyed their desserts of which I did not partake even though they do have sorbet which is vegan friendly. Lovely setting, good service. Very average food for the price and not recommended for anyone vegan.

The starters was a nicely presented spring roll with shredded veg. The main was a small rolled chicken breast which was tasteless sitting on very sloppy potato with a couple of slices of veg. That was it.
Sorbet for dessert was OK although better served between courses to cleanse the palate and it was not very inspiring.
They charged three of us 480 rupees for water which was not left on the table, we didn't drink that much and various bottles were seen opened and used. This was extortionate and equates to £8.22! Very poor show. Service without a smile too. I've experienced much better food and cheaper (free) water.

Superb restaurant with a magnificent view on the Chateau and the garden. The cuisine is one of the finest in the country with several taste revealed in your mouth at every bite. Will definitely recommend to gastronomic food lovers.

We were in a group of 10 people on a Friday night. We had already chosen the food from a set menu.
The appetizers were good and warm.
Some bread and butter were served while waiting for the main course.
I ordered lamb dish which was very good.
Not many people from our group enjoyed the dessert though.
Everything was for Rs 1 400 (appetizer+main course+dessert+one drink)
Overall it was a satisfying night.

La Table du Chateau is our favourite restaurant in Mauritius. The entire team is so welcoming and friendly. We are so delighted that the team was able to stay together during Covid. We are so fortunate to enjoy their high standards. The menu is fine dining and the wine list is superb. Sitting in the mature garden of the Chateau there is no better place for a relaxed weekend afternoon or evening. Whether it’s your first or your thirtieth visit you will never cease to be amazed by how good this restaurant is. We love the team and the whole experience. Highly recommend.

I had high hopes based on their website description… but really disappointing and underwhelming food… poorly cooked steak and rather unimaginative food and presentation. Also given such a great location why not place tables outside. The food at our hotel’s restaurant was far superior in every way.
