Not sure exactly what makes it modern, maybe it is the real plates and silverware with cocktails instead of paper plates, who knows. The cocktails were good with one margarita complaint. They were out of potatoes so we all went for mac'n'cheese. Ribs were good with not too much spice.

Smoke Modern BBQ catered our fall wedding in Aspen and we couldn't have been happier with the service and the food! Suzy and her staff (going to give heartfelt thank yous to Matt, Angie, Amy & Paula) worked so hard to make sure everything was just perfect for our special day! Suzy went out of her way to email back... More

Limited beers on draft. Ribs were smoky, but wish the crust wasn't so tough and dry. Salads are big. Nice casual atmosphere and fills up for dinner. Water glasses are tiny. Desserts were average.

New downtown Basalt is pretty cool, plenty of new restaurants and some modern is one of them. Very friendly service good food ( on my first visit the beef brisket was to dry and they changed it with apologies in 5 minutes ) , sides are large and should be shared. Enjoy

Everything is home made from the baked beans to the macaroni and cheese to the banana pudding. Service and food was excellent. The ribs were outstanding as were the corn muffins. Look forward to our return.

Weekend brunch is awesome. Try the eggs Benedict with pulled pork. Lots of other interesting items on the menu in addition to barbeque.

Our family of four had the Mac n Cheese which was great. I had the herb chicken which sounds kind of boring bit it was the favorite at our table. So much flavor. I don't think i could duplicate this at home although I wish I could.

My wife and I have been coming to Smoke for several years and had only one incident where we got a stale bun for a sandwich. When I pointed this out our server took my plate and remedied the situation quickly. No only did she apologize but she bought me a beer. Rest assured that if you choose Smoke as... More

A BBQ restaurant is out of pork...huh? So I got the brisket sandwich at the waiters reco. It was a big hunk of dried meat on a hamburger bun. No sauce, no flavor - just a big hunk of sliced, dry meat. They did put sauce in bottle on the table. Wait list was 30 minutes but there were 7... More

I was thrilled to see a BBQ restaurant near the Element in Basalt, and even more happy to see that it had pretty good ratings on Trip Advisor. Initially I was wondering if we had come to the right place -- the maitre'd was completely clueless about seating people, and after dithering about with an equally clueless family for about... More

We are a neighborhood-oriented, made from scratch, casual restaurant. The feel is young, hip transcending the perception of BBQ restaurants past. Serving a variety of draft and bottled microbrews representing local breweries and popular brews from great BBQ regions (Texas, the Carolinas, Memphis/Arkansas and Kansas City) we feature an approachable wine list and a full line of spirits. The menu is driven by the chefs and their Southern roots, the Great American BBQ traditions as well as seasonal and regional products.
