About
Fey Restaurant is the heart and gem of it's owners, James and Han Ying. Fey, an acronym of it's well known Chinese name Fu En Yuan, has existed for more than 20 years in the Bay Area. Their reputation for purely authentic and taste bud popping Sichuan and Northern Chinese food is impeccable and a definite must try. Come in for your favorite luncheon special or even have a party in our beautiful and elegant VIP room (advanced bookings please!). We will also be bringing you a new specialty, Chinese Hotpot (Fey style of course!). Instead of sharing a large boiling pot with people around you, you will have the luxury of your own. Come on in and experience Chinese food with style. You won't regret it.

We enjoyed the spices used in the dishes. Good portions. Rice is not automatically included, and needs to be added when ordering. We found the walnut prawns a bit soggy, though tasty. Chicken Mu-Shu was tasty as were the Eggplant A La Sichuan. Our Dan-Dan Noodles were lighter and more enjoyable than we have had at other local Chinese restaurants. We visited on a Friday early evening, and the restaurant was not busy. We liked the larger table but found the booth backs seem to have a hard plank of wood or plastic inside, which means leaning back is uncomfortable. Staff efficient. Tables cleaned, place appeared clean and tidy. Service reasonably fast, tea supplied, and crispy sweet won ons.

This is my favorite restaurant in the area. The dishes are superb, the menus inventive, the service warm and impeccable and the atmosphere sophisticated yet comfortable. I am confused by some of the negative ratings I saw on Yelp. They do not match my experience at all. They are misspelled and poorly written....

I order take out (delivery) from various restaurants often. I just ordered a lot of dishes and every single one was over-greasy and tasteless. Even their cold cucumber salad was greasy. I would not recommend it. Menlo Park resident.

I ordered fried seafood noodle for dinner. The ingredients are not fresh. The shrimps must have been left in the freezer for too long that it tasted freezer burn and starting to turn a bit sour. Definitely not going back.

Just ordered from Fey - a pickup via Grub Hub. My order was wrong & upon return the chef was angry. (I’ve complained before about rancid/spoiled product (white pepper), BTW). Additionally, my selection, along with simple additional instructions, were ignored and rather than being apologetic, particularly given the times, the chef acted angry/irate upon my return to exchange. This is expensive Chinese food, has raised prices since the pandemic hit, and is usually over-sauced/greasy across-the-board. There are far better options locally in Menlo.

I went for the Hot and Sour Soup. It was extremely reasonable ($11 for a bowl that was more than enough for two...probably more than a quart) and it had fresh veges and mushrooms with a small amount of chicken. It was good, just not above average. My wife had the chicken and wide noodles. Same thing...good and plenty of food, but nothing remarkable.

We went the Saturday after the Chinese New Year and the restaurant was crowded -- and noisy8, even though we sat in the front and quieter section of the restaurant. My biggest nit is the tables were too wide s the distance between us in the booth forced us both to lean into the table to talk. As to the food -- nice-sized portions, as in large. I had squid with vegetable, which was quite good and fresh; my husband ordered powdered pork ribs. It was spicy but not too much so and the pork was tender in bit-sized pieces. Did he like it? "It was interesting, it was a nice experiment." Would he order it again? "Not particularly." No reservations for tables of less than six people.

After all day travel was hungry for Chinese food. Within walking distance of my hotel was Fey. Great menu with many different options to choose from. Service was very good and prices reasonable. Two things stood out as different to me: you pay extra for rice (never had that in a Chinese restaurant before) and hot and spicy DO mean that. Be careful. I would recommend this place for sure.

Excellent place to eat real Chinese food. The food was delicious, plenty and surprisingly not very expensive. The best Chinese food I've had for a long while.

I have NEVER been disappointed with the food here. In fact, I chose this restaurant against all others in the Bay Area for my Birthday dinner. Highly recommend:' - Twice cooked tofu - Spicy string beans with port (better with pork than tofu) - mushu pork - TO DIE FOR All in all, I LOVE this place. I order out at least twice a month here.

Many menu items you don't find at any old Chinese restaurant. Their Szechuan dishes are wonderful as well as their mu-shu. They also serve hot -pot dishes

Been eating here for years! Food is consistent and good. The string beans amazing, soup and we had the salt and pepper crab which was so fresh and delicious. Service is also friendly with a smile. Huge parking lot at the back. Overall loved this place!

Try the cold dishes; beef trip, noodles and ligaments, then add the vegetable recommend by the server. With this menu, one would experience Chinese food like no other in the area. The reception is cordial, the menu is little crowded and doesn't do fair to the dishes, then try any dish that actually is different from others. The hours for lunch is very good, as we had lunch at 3 pm!
