A group of us came for my birthday meal. The food was generally fine but i've eaten better in LA. At one stage a waiter dropped a bottle of red wine over me. Fortunately, i was wearing black. He didn't then replace the bottle, just topped up our glasses and then when the bill came, I had to ask the... More

We LOVE this restaurant and have written ecstatic reviews about it in the past. But this Sunday ho-down rib fest was not good. The ribs were not great and arrived in a pool of their own oil in a big dish family style, the corn breas was boring, the corn on the cob tasteless, the peach cobbler was actually bad.... More

Its easy for great restaurants to let things slack after I while. I'd read of Lucques years before going there and was hesitant to go, thinking it would be a disappointment or past its prime- but James Beard recommendations have never let me down, so I booked and was met with special service, an unbelievable wine list (stellar burgundies in... We got a recommendation to eat at Lucques for their prix fix Sunday Supper and we were extremely pleased by the result. The opening salad was amazingly flavorful with fresh tomatoes, sweet peppers, barrata, prosciutto with a lovely mild dressing. Everyone enjoyed it. The 2nd course consisted of either halibut or lamb.. Both were excellent. The dessert, completed a fine... More

This is a long standing classic that is still going strong. Good eclectic modern California cuisine, excellent wine list and suave service.

Our group picked Lucques for our special celebration dinner and glad that we did! Yes, it's expensive so it's best saved for an occasion. Ivy covered exterior with open beams interior with a central tall fireplace, plus an outer inside dining patio - just perfect all around. Knowledgeable servers in comfortable ambiance, plus delicious food and super wine list. Perfect... More

We got there 3 minutes before our reservation. The had us sit by the bar while they "readied the table." We sat there for over 5 minutes. We had our son with us, so we couldn't sit at the bar, just squished behind the Host stand. We got to our table and sat there for about 5 minutes. My wife... More

We have eaten here twice recently because I LOVE the short ribs, the soft shell crab salad, it's conveniently located, pleasant back garden that's not too noisy. But last night my soft shell crab salad was bad. I shared it with my partner, and we were both sick by 1.30am, 6 hours after dinner which is about right for food... More

Wonderful food marred by inattentive waitstaff, excessive wait times between courses, abrupt and unpredictable changes of lighting, and inappropriate music.

My husband and I attended a wedding reception at Lucques. The food, atmosphere, and service was excellent. We were seated out on the patio which was separate from the main dining area so nice and private. It was somewhat crowded for 50 people but the tables were nicely decorated and the waiters were very attentive and helpful. They stayed busy the... More

Staying in West Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
West Hollywood
For years, West Hollywood has been known as a hub for the LGBT communities in Los Angeles. Today it still maintains the title, but has also become the “it” neighborhood for the entertainment industry’s up-and-comers. Producers, directors, writers and aspiring actors call this area home. Known for great boutique shopping, vintage clothing stores, home décor shops and fitness studios, West Hollywood is a grid of wide boulevards and narrow residential streets. The neighborhood also has a concentration of the most avant-garde restaurants in Los Angeles (rivaled only by the burgeoning restaurant scene Downtown). A trip to the iconic Sunset Strip, with its many clubs, music venues, hotels and flashing lights won’t be forgotten.
