Beautiful restaurant but it was the worst service we have ever experienced. The waitress was rude and unprofessional and not knowledgeable of the food or drinks offered. 10 mins after receiving the main course she came up to the table and told us what was...available for desert. 10 mins after that she asked what we want to order for desert. We hadn’t finished our meal ! The waiters and waitresses were all huddled together talking and not taking care of patrons. Because of the horrible service we will not be back.More

The Elderwood is in the Darling Hotel in downtown Visalia. Our server, Jessie, helped to make our meal and very enjoyable experience! We had rooftop seats with a large umbrella to protect us from the sun. The fun started with the huge selection of cocktails--some...classic, some creations of the mixologists. My husband loved the cosmopolitan he chose; I was very impressed with the Lunar Eclipse, which included blood orange, gin and prosecco. We started our meal with an Asian pear salad which was excellent, with walnuts and cranberries and a really tasty dressing. My husband chose the Scallop Risotto for his entree and it was beautifully cooked. My red snapper was also excellent, with capers and olives. We shared a lemon gelato for dessert--a very refreshing ending to an excellent meal. The Elderwood is not inexpensive but we thought the excellent service, cocktails and main dishes made it worth the splurge.More

We are new to the area and Elderwood is hands down the first restaurant we have been to that we loved. The good, the service, the drinks. We had the mimosa flight and eggs Benedict. Everything was delicious. I wish the had an appetizer menu....I love Crème Brûlée but it’s not on the dessert menu but our server Teresa surprised me and showed up with Crème Brûlée! We’ll be back for sure. It’s our new date night spot.More

I won't go into the details of my experience, but my advice to management is that they spend more time training the staff in customer service. I have traveled extensively and dine out quite often and I've never experienced such unprofessional staff The food and...drinks are on point but it takes more then good food to succeed. I will not be dining at this establishment again or recommend it to anyone I know.More

We enjoyed the roof top views and the food was great! It was a cold, brisk evening, but the Darling provided excellent heat lamps for comfort. The service was excellent and our needs were satisfied. We look forward to dining there again, and would love...to try the breakfast menu next time. Thank you!More

We stayed in The Darling hotel while visiting Sequoia Park. This restaurant, on the rooftop of the hotel was an excellent choice to have dinner/breakfast. Has a beautifully decorated patio/terrace with excellent views of the area and a few fire pits and heat warmers for...when the temperature is low, as well as umbrellas for nice shades in the morning. Very good service, professional and friendly and on time. They followed very well all the protocols during this pandemic and work only by reservations. Excellent food, we only had dinner twice: I highly recommend their cod cakes and cream brûlée. Their cocktails were really good and they have a high quality wine list. Highly recommend it if in the area. Thanks to all the personnel for a great culinary experience.More

Prompt and polite service-- limited wine and beer menu however the craft cocktail selection looked amusing. The limited drink menu might be due to COVID dining hours and restrictions. Why carry multiple options if you are allowed a limited number of diners? We shared a...deconstructed bruschetta appetizer-- very decent. Disappointed with the Caesar salad we split. The manager asked my significant other his thoughts and he shared it was missing something-- too bland. The manager checked with the kitchen and in fact an ingredient was left out if the dressing. It was removed from our bill! Again, not being a Karen-- but the manager asked. I had the game hen, fabulous! He had the salmon- Both were cooked perfect, but we agreed the game hen was quite savory and the better of the two. They offered Raspberry Cake from Max's for desert with coffee-- it topped off our dinner. I look forward to trying Elderwood again when we can eat inside.More

We had the French toast and eggs Benedict-both amazing and filling. The mimosa flight was a fun treat as well!
