Stopped here for an early breakfast on the way to SFO. Service was fast and efficient. The food was a good - typical for a decent breakfast. Black Bears are consistent. Good solid food. Nothing special.

I travel a lot between Chico and the Bay Area and this is the best place to break the trip on the way back and have a meal. The food is well prepared and plentiful.

My family and I have been to this restaurant several times for breakfast. It is our number one breakfast spot!

I've eaten here many times. There's often a long line that moves rather quickly for the number of people waiting. The food has always been tasty and what you'd expect. The staff is friendly.

The portions are HUGE. I ordered breakfast, my friends ordered the daily special Prime Beef. It was fantastic! The beef filled the platter. My friends took the rest of the meal home. Very good service. My breakfast was very good. I will be back for the beef.

Everything at Big Bear Diner is really good. They have a good selection that includes local flair like carnitas or breakfast tacos. It all tastes like good old homecooking. We had a party of 10 but were still seated quickly and served perfectly. I can't say the same for other chain restaurants. This is a small chain with a family... More

Have never had a bad meal here. Have only had breakfast here. The food is great, quantity excellent and food is always good. Service has not been disappointing either. I really should try lunch or dinner here too. Don't think I would go away hungry.

Large plates, and lots of food. I had chicken fried steak which was good, it came with a choice of potatoes and I chose their coutry potatoes which was good and plentiful. My wife had huevos rancheros which she said was good as well.

Black Bear is a great place to split meals, because quantities are very large. We often split a breakfast. We always order the multi grain pancakes with our eggs, meat, and hash browns. Food is generally served promptly and hot. Quality is very good. This is comfort food, so don't expect fancy sauces, although the sausage gravy is really tasty.... More

Portions are huge! Food is decent and priced friendly. Restaurant appeared clean and staff friendly. A/C wasn't working too well the day we had dinner, but it was tolerable. Good family dining with a good atmosphere.
