Food and ambience

Patrona Restaurant and Lounge is located in the heart of beautiful Ukiah, Mendocino County, California. We are a family-run business and view the restaurant as an extension of our kitchen and living room. Our building served as the town grocery store for over one hundred years. Now lovingly restored, it is softly lit with warm brick walls, filled with hand crafted tables from local artisans and run by a staff that cares. Bridget and Craig, two winery chefs, opened Patrona in 2003. The simple goal was to enjoy the great area we live in and share this with our family and friends. Our mission statement is simply “Happy People”. We need to be happy about what we do and how we do it. Our guests need

We enjoyed a very good COVID-19 dinner on outdoor (street tent) heated patio. We enjoyed the roast chicken, panko crusted cod and lasagna. It all paired well with a (local) Handley Cellars Pinot Noir. We look forward to returning on our next, hopefully, post-COVID visit...to Ukiah.More

Made my reservation on Open Table. Confirmed. Arrived at west-facing, pleasant & shaded dining area where we've celebrated before. Excellent martinis. Hostess took us past several empty tables for two, around a corner and offered a table on the south side of the restaurant. Full...setting sun, glare dazzling my wife & raising a sweat on my neck before I sat down. Asked to be seated in shade. Waitress told me I should have made my reservation earlier in the day. --Daylight Saving time ends soon. Sun will be directly on south tables for longer than it was today. We left. Beware. My "good" food rating is from years of previous visitsMore

Called the restaurant beforehand to make sure they were open. The recording said to make reservations thru open table. Open table gave me a reservation with confirmation. Arrived for my reservation and it was closed. This is Friday night at 7 pm. No sign on...the premises explaining why they weren’t open. I hope nothing serious happened, but we were disappointed. Went to Oco Time as our second choice. Fantastic Japanese food.More

Stumbled on this cute little restaurant in the corner of the ukiah downtown area.. its definitely set up for C19 social distancing which I loved and everyone was friendly especially Dawn and Sierra. Food was awesome, we got the ravioli, seasonal vegetables pasta and chicken...and mash potatoes and you have to end the course with the chocolate torte.. wow.. we did outdoor dining because we had our doggies.. they got them bowls of water.. great place, service and a must if you come through Ukiah..More

We went here to celebrate my sister’s birthday. The croquettes were very interesting consisting of potatoes and cheese inside a fried covering with a special sauce. All three bite sized but very good. Disappointments included the lasagna, as my wife’s culinary talents leave their rendition...in the dust, and it does not carry the price of a small steak. The apple strudel for desert was more pastry than apples, and it was on the dry side needing a lot of whipped cream. Accolades included the French Press coffee that was very good and interesting with individual serving pots. The one item not to miss was the Chocolate Torte that we split, and it was a chocolate lover’s dream, so smooth and rich. As the restaurant filled up for the evening meal the noise level rose which made conversation more difficult. The restaurant is expensive but with excellent attentive staff.More

Reserved a table, arrived on time and were taken straight to a table for 2. Restaurant was buzzy with a good vibe. Water appeared quickly, but no bread, which we could have done with. We ordered drinks and meal. Drinks came quickly. Starters took a...bit longer and. along we were in no rush, both server and manager came separately to apologies, referring to a screw-up in the kitchen. One of us had soup and the other scallops to start. Both good, once they had arrived. Once they were finished and plates removed, there was another long-ish wait for the mains - Lasagna for my wife and Local Chili Cod for me. I did ask and it's the Cod that is local, not the chili! We enjoyed both, though I had expected the Cod to be a stir fry, based on the menu. Well it is, but "deconstructed" into its component parts on the plate. So not "stirred", but tasty and healthy. We hadn't planned on dessert, but our friendly server said that we could share a complimentary dessert as compensation for the food delays. So we ordered the Apple Strudel, which was more than enough for both of usMore

Prices are high for this area. But the food and drinks at a scale above most places. They put a little special twist to everything they serve. If the prices were not so high I would come more often when passing through town.

Tried the burger and fries. The burger is thick and was cooked as I ordered it. Tastes great. The fries were good as well. Did not know these guys had a simple burger and fries. Tried a few other dishes with our group. Everything was...good. This place has gotten better. In the past it was very slow to service. They seem to have that problem fixed the last couple of visits.More
