I love Honda-Ya!! After spending three weeks in Japan earlier this summer, I was desperate to find real Japanese food in Orange County! Everyone else in OC serves California Rolls and teriyaki, and calls it Japanese food. But Honda-Ya serves food that they actually eat in Japan!! The dishes are authentic and delicious! From the ramen to the skewers to... More

Had a great time enjoying my first yakitori experience. The only reason I will not rate it a 5 is because I saw some kind of large bug running along the floor. I am sure these are to be found in all restaurants though. There was a short wait when we arrived, but once seated, our food came very quickly.... More

It's best to arrive right when they open because they do not take reservations and they do have long lines and wait times frequently. Very good Japanese food and sushi. They have a couple tables where families or groups can sit on the floor and eat at low tables. Fun experience! Had the Teriyaki salmon and rice and it was... More

We put our name down and waited - it was worth it, don't let this scare you off. Great prices for excellent food and drinks. We had the potstickers, which are the best I've ever had, some yakitori sticks which were cooked to perfection, a roast pork dish with spinach which was amazing, the fried squid was only okay, luckily... The doors open at 5:30 and there's ALWAYS a long line waiting. That alone should tell you how popular this place is. The food is great and service is good. The only complain i have is that their air conditioner at times acts up and it can get pretty warm in there. But totally worth it and will definitely go... More

We came Friday night early evening and had to wait 30 minutes, we were lucky and got a table seating on the tatami . We ordered mixed tempura, different skewers, salmon rice balls and a California roll, everything was tasty and the service was good too. We really felt like we were in Japan with no jet lag. When we... More

I was looking for a different restaurant and said what is a Honda Ya. Being American thinking it was a bike shop. I saw some people go in and then looked it up on Trip Advisor.....almost all 5s. I have to try this. I ordered the seafood hot pot and sake. Both were winners. Service 5 star....food 6 star. I... More

This takes me back to Kyoto. The food is authentic, the staff is good, and I love the ambiance. It's a little pricey, but totally worth it.
