While visiting friends in Truckee, they treated us to dinner at the Cottonwood, which is their favorite restaurant for a special night out. It was definitely a treat. Excellent food and service, great view, and nice atmosphere. Give the French Onion Soup and the French Margarita a try. That was almost a meal in itself. All in all, this was... More

Had dinner here on a Saturday night recently. Made reservations as they were recommended. This restaurant is expensive but the food, service and view of downtown Truckee were excellent! Highly recommend it

Although this place looks like it is about to fall down, the food was excellent and the staff was very accommodating and friendly.

The food is noteworthy but doesn't match the beautiful view after sundown. Be sure to reserve a table ahead of time so you can be seated by the window or in good weather on the patio. The food is always excellent and never have had a bad entree or dessert. There is nightly musical entertainment too. Put this little place... More

We spotted this place from old town Truckee so decided to drive up the hill and check it out. It is obviously a popular place as it was quite crowded the night we were there. The outdoor deck was full so we were seated in the main dining room. Our group of five enjoyed our meals. I ordered the butternut... More

I had expected the food to be as interesting as the view. Well, the food was just ok, but the view is very interesting, like watching a model train set in action. We ate outside and we were swarmed with yellow jackets!

We ate at this restaurant a year ago and enjoyed it more the last time. The menu seems awfully brief, with not a whole lot of selections. The Truckee Enchilada is delicious, but sort of pricey for a vegetarian dish! The halibut is always delicious, but the Wagyu beef comes with plain broccoli and fries. For the price, there should... Had not been to Cottonwoods for two years and it is not the same experience. Service was good with attentive waitress and busboy. The menu, however, was limited in variety for entrees. A halibut special was listed for $40! A little pricey for this venue. The hamburger for $17 was pedestrian at best. The outside seating was nice.

Cottonwood was recommended as being very popular and it seemed so as we entered through a political fund-raising party! The host/hostess was very pleasant and found us a table for two on the deck over-looking Truckee. The old photos of Truckee on their walls and other old ski items ie. boots, poles and skiis were fun and interesting to look... More

With spectacular views of downtown Truckee from the Dining Room or expansive Deck, Cottonwood is the restaurant of choice for Truckee locals and visitors alike. A diverse menu consists of eclectic menu of steaks, pastas, seafood and vegetarian dishes using fresh organic produce and sustainable meats and seafood whenever possible, complimented by a full bar and adventuresome wine list. Home to a vibrant acoustic music scene, Cottonwood features free live music every Thursday and Friday nights, and features a nightly Happy Hour until 6pm. Groups and special events are welcome.
