Today my friends and I had breakfast at this wonderful locals' place in beautiful Trinidad. They always have such wonderful options but today I was trying to watch what I eat - lose that holiday "extra." I opted for a veggie scramble, 3 scrambled eggs mixed with vegetables like broccoli, spinach and mushrooms and topped with mozzarella cheese. I went for the fresh fruit option (fresh sliced bananas, blueberries and strawberries) for an extra $1.99 instead of the hash browns and unbuttered wheat toast. It was a delicious breakfast!! They have great coffee too and our excellent server kept it coming (thank you, Ashley!) - a lovely stop in a gorgeous area. Loved the overhead "classic rock" music too!

We ordered clam chowder, me in a sour dough bread bowl and my wife in a large bowl. Go with the bowl, she got way more soup that way and it was fantastic!! We also ordered crab fries which were very good but at $29 for an order it’s a bit steep. Katherine, our waitress was professional, polite and funny. Fully recommend!

We went to dinner at the Trinidad Bay & eatery and there was about a 20 minute wait, so we walked down to the cliff that overlooked the ocean and soaked in the views. After the wait, we sat down for dinner and the food was good, but the service was a little slow. My wife got the crab sandwich that she enjoyed. My son had a kids cheeseburger. My daughter had the mac and cheese and I ordered the burger with bacon, blue cheese and onion rings on top that was huge. I had an IPA from Seaquake Brewing and My wife had a prickly pear margarita that she enjoyed. Overall the food is solid. We also came here for breakfast and the service was good and the food was good! The restaurant also has a coffee bar and a gift shop. Cute little restaurant that we would visit again if we are ever in the area again!

Well Trinidad is gorgeous but this greasy eatery is not what we expected. First they wash and wipe the tables down with the same dirty towel and water after each guest vacates their table. Now to the food. The fish and chips were terrible and for $16.99 you get 3 pieces of horrible tasting cod and French fries that look like they came out of the dirtiest cooking oil ever. The shrimp and fries believe it or not were ever worse ....yes looks and tastes like frozen shrimp with the same dirty fries. The margaritas tasted like limeaide on ice with salt in the rim. Yuck. Thank God we found the winery across the street appealing and went back to our RV with wine and an upset stomach. Really a horrible experience. Do not recommend this grease pit.

Stopped by here to get some breakfast food to go. All they had was giant unappealing looking cinnamon rolls and muffins. Chose a muffin - also oversized and also overpriced almost $4.50 for a muffin. That would have been acceptable if it were delicious but this was one of hte worst muffins I ever tasted, supposedly chocolate chip pecan it tasted stale, had a chemical flavor of artificial ingredients and I didn't encounter any pecans, though I only ate half and threw away the rest it was so bad. Glad I couldn't get through the evening before to put in a dinner order.

We had a late breakfast at this restaurant on May 29th, 2021. It took 20 minutes to get seated, and then once seated, another 15 minutes to order while one waitress tried to handle all of the outside tables. Food took another half hour to arrive. My smoked lox & spinach benedict was not prepared as I requested (with sauce on the side) instead smothered in it; no coffee refills. Food was lukewarm, as if it had been sitting for a while as well. We will NEVER visit this restaurant again when travelling in this area. Clearly this restaurant did not have enough staff on hand to handle to number of guests.

I have eaten here a number of times with my family when I am up here visiting my son. In general the food is quite good. I highly recommend the clam chowder in the chowder bowl. I have also had fish and chips which was really good. My son Loved his hamburger. The staff is always really friendly and the fudge on the way out is always really tempting. That being said, I have one gripe, and that has to do with the cost of eating there. In general it’s a fairly affordable place, on the slightly pricey end of things, But be careful of anything that says “ market price“, because that can end up being quite expensive. I ordered a Caesar salad with shrimp and it came with four cooked shrimp and a decent sized bowl of lettuce and A decent Caesar dressing, but when the check came at the end it was $32! I’m sorry but there was absolutely nothing about that salad that was even remotely close to $32. Four small cooked shrimp at eight dollars a pop and maybe a dollars worth of lettuce is not a $32 main course. The entire lunch for three of us, with tip, was over $150 and we weren’t drinking any alcohol. Again it’s a nice place in a beautiful location so just be careful what you order and look at the pricing carefully.

Hi John,
Thank you for taking a moment to share your feedback with us in the TripAdvisor community. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed our delicious food and appreciate your kind comments. We are sorry however to hear that you were disappointed with our prices. Our seafood is priced at market value, and is well below the price of other establishments in our area. We do work hard to provide the freshest local ingredients for all of our dishes, and our guest satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us. We hope you'll join us again some other time, we look forward to serving you again!

Stopped for lunch. Great food. Beautiful crab Louie salads but market price blew us away. Very expensive. Also ordered an ale that was 45$ per bottle. Would return again as food is wonderful and the wait staff superb! Our salads were out of this world, the double double with half a tuna melt and cup of chowder was wonderful and the crab fries puts Canada’s poutine to shame.

A Bay Area resident who has visited the Trinidad Bay Eatery on every trip to the North Coast for 20 years or more. Staying in Eureka, I drive here for breakfast. Food is very good and the staff unbelievable. They move! When very busy, orders may a little slow but cups and glasses are kept full. Abundant flowers in the residential neighborhood are spectacular and visible from the restaurant..

Our first night on vacation, a Saturday, we decided to eat here for dinner based on the online menu. I checked online first and saw that no reservations are available, but when we walked up around 6pm, I was asked if we were "on the list". I said "I didn't think we could be" and so we were added to the wait list and told maybe a 45 minute wait. There were plenty of open tables, so I assumed they are short-staffed, like so many restaurants are. We were offered a cash raw oyster bar that was set up outside or shopping inside. We instead wandered the area a bit, swinging by the winery across the street since it was the only other shop open. We returned about 30 minutes later and checked in again so they knew we were back and, though it was the same lady, she asked if we were on the list again. We explained we were. Anyway, we were asked if we'd be okay to be seated outside (it was starting to get cool) and we agreed, so were seated within our 45 minute quoted time. Another gal came over and explained the specials and that our waitress would be with us soon. Our waitress was very nice and provided good service, though we never did get a price on the specials we were told about. Regardless, we ordered one of the specials, along with the Crabby Fries appetizer, the Cioppino and a bowl of oyster soup. Unlike some other reviews, we didn't have a long wait for food. Everything was very good, minus maybe the very plain rice served alongside the fish special, though the veggies with it were fantastic. Prices were high for the serving sizes, but we somewhat expected that. We watched as more people waited for tables and tables sat empty or groups lingered at tables with no food. Eventually, they started turning people away because it was approaching closing time, offering "to go" soups and some other items. They did turn two or three groups away, but then, interestingly, took one more. One table outside asked to be relocated inside because of the chill, and eventually they were accommodated. So be sure to call and make sure they are still seating and get there early to wait for a table. Our total, with tax and tip was $176. Good food at a nicer spot in town, but be prepared for a wait and a hefty bill.

Thank you for taking a minute to let folks in our TA community know about how we did. We appreciate your patience as we choreograph our kitchen and dining room. We do our best to not rush guests out the door to make room for more; however, we will always do our best to make any wait worth the investment of time.
In today's world of rising prices, we do our best to keep our prices down without sacrificing the quality of the food we serve. Fresh seafood is a premium these days, but our entrees are so popular, guests would be disappointed if they were removed. Thank you for your understanding, and we'd love to have you back again next time you visit our little coastal community.

Nice inside with outside tables also. Chowder was very good—not the “best” we’ve ever had, but well worth the $$. Fish and chips were good as well..nice light beer batter. Only complaint , and its a BIG one, is that there were no Dungeness crab cakes. They were “out of season”. However, they did offer “crabby fries” for $24 and crab in a salad for over $20. Website should be timely with seasonal adjustments. Also, no draft taps..only bottled/cans. Prices were fair though.

Great food and service. The clam chowder was delicious probably the best we had on the coast. Our waitress was very personable offering up suggestions not only relative to our meal but other places to eat during our stay in the Eureka area.

My family ordered clam chowder in a bread bowl and fish and chips. The bread was toasted with I think cheese and seasonings. It was so good! I don't usually like clam chowder but this was really good especially when you dipped your bread in it! The fish had a great batter and was seasoned really well. The fries looked hand cut and were also good. The service was great, the ladies were very friendly. We'll be back.

I got the cioppino without bread, and the soup was excellent. The soup was flavorful and had a decent amount of seafood.
If you're gluten free, they do have gluten free toast available. I skipped it as I was nervous about cross-contamination.
What cross-contamination? Though I didn't ask them, I know from experience that many restaurants will toast the GF bread on the same equipment as regular bread.
That means there's a good chance of cross contamination. If you decide to get the toast, make sure to ask. Or just get the bread untoasted since you can just dip it in the soup.

We’re visiting friends that moved to the area a few months ago. We drove 7 miles to Trinidad knowing there were several restaurants; and we wanted casual, good food; and specifically Fish ‘n Chips .
We landed at the Eatery; an unwelcome 20+ minute wait as we were tired and hungry.
OMG!!! AMAZING quality AND quantity!
The ambience although laid-back was professional. Although only qualified to rate the Fish and Chips; EVERYONE appeared quite pleased.
We will be back…
