For years this has been my go-to for special days (mother's day, my birthday). Food is always great, service wonderful. We love the pickled goodies and bread that comes out while you wait on your order. Our fave appetizers are the warm goat cheese with roasted garlic and the sweet potato fries with basil salt. My husband usually gets the... More

Had the baby back ribs lunch entree. 7 total ribs for $16. Came with fries and a specialized cole slaw that really you'd like or dislike (sorry folks, the later for me). Yes it's historical and the area is very scenic. But while the bbq sauce was tasty, amount didn't equal the price of the meal. Attentive staff, quickly served.... More

Wonderful restaurant with a welcoming staff and you can park right on the street in front with no parking meters or valets! Like going back in time! I can't get past the double cut glazed pork chop. The thing is probably 14 oz. At least 12 and is very good. I've been here several times and always order it, though... More

We are a family of four (kids 18/20) and stopped near Templeton overnight between Sequoia National Park and a drive up the coast. McPhee's was nearby and was able to take our reservation quickly. The restaurant is in a historic building that (I think) was a saloon at one time... The decor is great and the staff was attentive and... More

Though we live over 1500 miles away, when we visit the Central Coast, we would never think of missing McPhee's. It is just a couple of minutes off the turmoil of Hgwy. 101, but you immediately feel that you are in a time warp. Templeton's main street must have looked very similarly, 100 years ago. There is even an iconic... More

Recently dined at McPhee's as part of a banquet party in the "back room." I had not been to this restaurant in a few years only because it's not very convenient to where I live. The food was so good, however, I will make the trek more often. Despite serving a large crowd in our banquet while still dealing with... More

A chance finding on a stopover while touring. Restaurant was full and buzzing on a Friday night, but they managed to fit us in, the service was great as was the food - very competent cooking - we had the very good filet mignon . The owner, Ian, is clearly very hands-on, seems to have time to talk to everyone... More

I have been dining @ McPhee's Grill for 15 years. It's the best place along the 101 corridor between Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo for fine dining! The food is well prepared, very fresh and the wine list is fine also. I have to admit that it was difficult walking into McPhee's after my husband passed away but one... More

In Atascadero (5-minute drive) for business - and none of the local restaurants read well. Took a shot and was very pleasantly surprised. Typical rural California . . . nothing fancy, no pretenses but the food was really good. Hostessing was a little "relaxed" and the server got it kinda right (forgot to mention the specials until AFTER we ordered.)... More
