At Steaks and Beer in Tecopa we witnessed an awful, racially profiled waiter during our trip to death valley. I would like to warn all about this waiter and his despicable demeanor. He has tattoos on wrist, and wears eye glasses. This place is tiny...and disrepaired. When we arrived all 3 indoor tables were occupied and we waited inside at the entrance. There were a few outdoor tables but it would be too cold and windy. The waiter came to us, apologized for the waiting, then turned to a family of black mother and daughter who already sat and were checking on the menu. He said, I paraphrase, "you both have to sit outdoors as we don't have enough tables inside". The waiter was rude, but he succeeded. The mother and daughter didn't move outdoors, they left after arguing with the waiter, in vain. We also decided to leave immediately. I would like to warn other patrons of this waiter. I tried to call the restaurant to inform the owner in case he wasn't aware. No one answered so I left a voice message.More

The building is run down. Some might say rustic, but no ... it has simply been neglected. But, we were there for the dinner, not the ambiance. The steak was so tough, it was difficult to cut even with a serrated steak knife. The secret...to the steak was a very nice sear, followed by a balsamic reduction. Although the steak was cooked perfectly, it left me underwhelmed.More

A very high quality food experience. The $80 fixed price meal for 2 is a good value. (We had a huge ribeye steak, shared for two). Only negative warmish beer!

We ate at The Bistro and went to Death Valley Brewery for a beer afterwards. We walked over to the adjacent Steaks and Beers and sat by their fire pit. A server came and asked us, if we were dining with them and we said...no. He asked us to leave and we said okay and were getting up and he responded “I will wait”. We said nothing and moved towards the brewery and he called us “mother duckers” (used the real profanity). We will never eat here. EVER. There was nobody outside and this was uncalled for behavior. Everyone I have met in Tecopa has been interesting and amazing....except for this.More

OK - we were in Tecopa, CA to get away from people, Covid was in full force - and we were hungry! Someone where we were staying suggested a steak and beer place nearby, which in my mind translated to a dusty beer joint full...of day drinkers and flies buzzing in circles. Folks - this place is a must. What during the day is just another cluster of brown slow baking in the desert sun becomes a wonderful experience when the sun goes down - with cool twinkly lights and outdoor tables spaced well apart and a small pond - and oh - a house salad of greens and fruit you have got to check out - your taste buds will smile as never before. I had their burger - my partner a steak - we both had the house salad and they were well....amazing. The ordering was done in person - with masks on - payment was completely contactless using a phone. Just go - check this place out - - prices are reasonable. Have fun!More

After reading the reviews for the restaurants in town it was hard to choose which one to eat at. This place was amazing! My boyfriend ordered the Salisbury steak and seriously, the flavor in this dish was amazing! I had the steak salad and I...would have purchased some of that dressing if they sold it, it was so yummy! And I wish I could remember what we had for dessert - some kind of cherry thing with ice cream - to die for!!!More

We were traveling by motorcycle enjoying a beautiful February day. We had passed this place before during our adventures but had not stopped. This time we decided to stop at the bar for a beer when another couple told us we should stay until the...restaurant opened. We were not disappointed!! We got the 5 course meal for 2 and were amazed. The chef/owner is truly an artist! If you like delicious cheese platters, delicious perfectly cooked steaks, and a totally chill atmosphere this place is a must!! We are the food too fast to get a pic but here’s a pic of the view of the moonrise we saw from our table.More

One of the best I’ve ever had. Prepared exactly the way I asked, tender, flavorful, and an excellent sauce. Consider the outside seating, especially on a warm evening.

Roll thru a cornucopia of sheer delight-full-ness. Get some coffee or tea, etc and here comes a steady stream of wonderfulness, top it off with dabes chocolate or killa Keylime pie

On a dark, windy, cold night, this restaurant was the only game in town. And we were so glad it was! I'm not a steak eater, but we landed there at the end of a long day, and the food was great. High quality food,...and a great way to get a sense of Tecopa.More

We are light eaters. The three of us shared a ribeye "pre-fix" (sic), $35 for the steak, and an additional $35 for the additional courses. The salad was delicious, as was fruit and cheese latter. The ribeye was huge, just right for the three of...us, and just as delicious as we had been led to expect. The owner was very friendly and was happy to share more about what we were eating. The tiny indoor space was very conducive to light banter with other diners or people at the bar.More

I came here with my husband for dinner. The ambiance is very welcoming. There is a little pond outside fed by the Amargosa River and the trellis-archway decorated with strands of white lights. Inside there is a four top and a two top table and...three stools at the bar. There is also outside seating available, but you may need bug spray according to other patrons who said there were mosquitoes out there. The menu is small but I have a feeling that every item on the menu is delicious. We each ordered the half pound grass fed burger, well done. It was a thick and juicy burger and perfectly cooked. The seasoning on the burger and the topping (arugula and something else, not sure what exactly) was amazing. Best burger I’ve had. The salad on the side had a homemade honey mustard dressing that was light and perfect with the greens and berries. The people at the four top had meatball soup and grilled cheese sandwiches that looked and smelled delicious. I also saw the legendary steaks come out of the kitchen and they also looked and smelled fabulous. I would def come here again.More

Steaks & Beer can seat six lucky people (a table for 4 and a table for 2) inside their minuscule establishment (seven, if you don't mind being cozy). There is additional seating outside and if the weather is agreeable, a dinner under the stars is...lovely. John is the waiter and Eric is the chef, and once you try anything they have to offer, you'll forget about the long drive to Tecopa and the somewhat tight seating. The meals are prepared from locally grown food whenever possible and includes burgers, wraps, pasta, steaks, soup, salad, etc. They offer a 5-course meal for two wherein you split the steak entree. We've done this twice (ribeye and t-bone) and it's been wonderful each time. They have a nice selection of steaks, but be aware that if you're late, they can run out. As for beverages, they offer a good selection of wines and beers (some pretty exotic stuff, actually, at least in my experience). All in all, a place with excellent meals that we highly recommend.More

We stopped here for dinner the weekend before they were closing for the season. The place is small and interesting. The chef functions as the server as well. The food was good....I liked the potato soup and grilled cheese. The also had an excellent salad...and good pasta dish. Food is organic and locally sourced where possible.More

bar counter for 3, about 3 tables on the patio some more chairs outside near the fireplace. We walked in with one table available. Otherwise the wait would have been about 15 minutes I estimate. Worth the wait for the steaks.
