A lovely little Thai place with all the classic dishes. Prepared well. Expedient service. Quiet atmosphere. Surprised it wasn’t busier.

Food was OK but the restaurant itself needs either remodeling or a very deep cleaning. The bathrooms and carpets are filthy. My husband refuses to go back.

This has been my home base for Thai food for a number of years. It’s super busy week days at lunchtime. Evenings it’s nice for family outings or that business meal. As Thai food goes, most you’ll find is similar and a bit Americanized. Jua...the owner, does a good job of adding a bit of authentic taste to his dishes, setting it apart from most Thai restaurants that simply use the same curry paste As everyone else. And if you’re interested in a bit of dining adventure, just ask for some local food and the chef can whip up something more traditional Thai, like you’d actually find in Thailand. It’s a great family atmosphere with plenty of regulars dining there. I always feel at home eating there,More

I had my dinner here and i had spring rolls as entry, not bad, not good. Then i wanted to try a chicken pad thai: it was...sweet! I couldn't even finish it, to sweet. Nothing to share with the real one i was use to...eat in Thailand. Very good Thai iced tea. Prices are cheap, 20/25 dollars.More

No fish (except grill salmon), no juice on menu. Despite alarm bells went ahead to order. Shrimp roll turns out to be one heavily marinated black pepper shrimp wrapped in flour skin. Like masking the lack of freshness of the prawn. The accompanying salad was...turning brown - not fresh. The Pad Thai was not using Pad Thai flat noodles, it's using Bee Hoon (thin rice noodles) . The sauce was way too overpowering. Waited for a while through I was the only 3rd table in the entire restaurant. Final straw came when they told me they don't have fresh red chopped chilli . What ?More

Thai Basil restaurant (downtown Sunnyvale Murphy St) is much too dark. I did not like that. I could not even read the lunch menu; I had to go outside to read the menu. That is not acceptable. The waitress was completely unaware. When I told...her that it was too dark and I could not read the menu, she suggested that I could sit in another dark area. Does Thai Basil cater to young people with excellent vision? When I was young I could read in dim light, but not now. That feels like bigotry to me. A restaurant should create an environment that makes ALL customers feel welcome. One nearby table of 3 customers had to ask for a waitress. She had not come by to take their order. That is not good. I was ready to pay. The waitress walked by and did not even look over to take my money. I had to call out to get her attention. I doubt that I will ever return.More

Ok, I’ve been to this place a number of times. I love their food, but one time I think the waiter decided to ger me good. I told him that I really liked spicy food and I think he thought he’d teach me a lesson....I was accustomed to very spicy food, but he made the food so spicy that even my then boyfriend, who was Singaporean, couldn’t eat it. So, as long as you don’t sound too confident, I think you’ll be ok :-)More

One of the finest Thai places. Their curries are awesome. Great value and excellent place to visit with the family. Try their hot curries.

Thai food at it's best. Wonderful curry dishes with red, yellow or green curry. Angel dance prawns are perfect. And the noodle dishes are great too.

This place has been a family favorite for years and sadly last week we went and were very disappointed. Service was not good and to top it off all the food (appetizers, mains and desserts) just wasn't what we are used to. Bummer.

I've been going to Thai Basil since it opened years ago, and though I have tried many other Thai restaurants in many cities, it is still my favorite. It happened that when I went to Thailand, the owner Jua (who has been invited to teach...at the Culinary Institute in Napa) was in Bangkok at the same time. He took me to his friend's restaurant which he said was the best in town. Perhaps it was, but Thai Basil is better. There is an extensive menu, and you can order dishes with as much or as little "heat" as you like.More

I've enjoyed my meals at this restaurant. It's got a calm, relaxed atmosphere and the food is fresh and tasty. The service is attentive and good. You can modify how much "heat" (aka spice) you want your food, which is nice for those of us...who don't want too much heat. They have a wide range of choices and I've not had a bad meal. When I have a hankering for a good Thai dinner or lunch, this is my choice.More
