In winter Brewers Ponderosa Lodge is located where the "Great Divide Highway" is closed for winter. In summer the road is open and leads to the Trail of the Hundred Giants (well worth the trip.) Unfortunately restaurants along highway 190 above Springville have been closed or failed. Brewers struggles on with good pub food and a great but remote location.

We did not eat here but stayed at the motel. The place is for sale and I can see why. Roof is coming apart and the motel needs a complete renovation,. We paid $104 for a room. My daughter had two kids and paid over $200. We stayed at the Trump International in Vegas for far less than that. Really... More

We ate lunch and then breakfast here because we stayed one night in the room above the place. The food was okay - neither really good nor really bad. Everything was fried. Our waiter/bartender/restaurant manager was very good. We enjoyed taking with him when he wasn't too busy!

A friend and I stayed at the rustic lodge while hiking and visiting the Sierra mountains, and just loved the atmosphere and very friendly service of the waitress and cooks. The food was great, after a day of hiking and they served generous helpings. I ordered a BLT with fries. It was great but so generous a helping that I... More

Called in for lunch before checking out one of the local trails. The place is a combined store/filling station/restaurant, it also has a bar area. I guess the main customers are the camping/hiking/skying community. I had a bowl of chilli beans with crackers, very good value for just under $5 and very tasty. My friend had an enormous bulging cold... More

First of all, this restaurant is NOT in Springville. It is in the little community of Ponderosa, between Quaking Aspen campground and Dome Rock, just off of the Western Divide Highway (Mountain Road 107). Secondly, I don't know who Brewer is. Maybe the guy who used to own the place? (Local gossip is that when the owner passed away, his... More

We stopped here after a few hours of hiking. A thunderstorm was rolling in, but it was still far in the distance. We had our dog with us and they kindly allowed us to sit on the patio (our request). The servers were super friendly and helpful. We had a nice chat and she told us about some of her... More

We stopped here for dinner on the way back from a day spent exploring Sequoia National Park. The place looked so cool and we were looking forward to a nice meal out on the porch, but first a bathroom break and a chance to was our hands. The bathrooms were worse than any I've ever had to use. Filthy and... More

We stopped here for a late lunch after visiting Trail of 100 Giants and we were cheerfully welcomed by the two ladies working (one cooking and one waiting tables). There was a huge family group sitting inside and as we had our dog with us, we sat outside on the nice patio/deck. The food is classic diner fare: Patty melt... More

Greasy food, dirty plates, cold soup and lukewarm tea, take it or leave it service. This place was For Sale (end September 2014) and it seemed clear that the current owner had little interest in either serving good food or offering a pleasing ambience. I'm not a fussy eater by any means but this was one place I would never... More
