The food here is so amazing. Down home comfort food all the way. Friendly staff. It doesn't matter if you order breakfast lunch or dinner I guarantee that you will love everything. I wished they had a restaurant here in San Diego. We visited one in Colorado and the food is just spectacular wherever you go.

My wife and I ate at Black Bear on a Saturday evening in September and were pleasantly surprised. Although this is basically an "old school diner", some of their dinner specials rival the entrees served at many high end restaurants. As an example: the special that evening was Roast Prime Rib served with your choice of potato and mixed vegetables.... More

Basic diner food done well with good coffee and service. Eggs, French toast were run of the mill with the omelette being the standout with nice thick cut bacon. Odd hash browns but they tasted ok.

As other reviewers have stated the portions are huge...but I'm not complaining. We needed it to start our day of tastings. Veggies in the scrambler I had were fresh and not over cooked. Hashbrowns were fresh too. The biscuits and gravy are the best I've ever had...and I'm from the south! Individual biscuit could be a meal in itself...HUGE, fluffy... More

We had breakfast here twice while in Sonoma and both times we loved it. This is a basic diner type place with cute décor and the servers are all friendly. For a typical American breakfast it would be hard to beat. Nothing gourmet about it -just good value , good food and great service.

The portions were huge, but exactly what we needed to fuel up before a day of wine tasting. As 3 ladies we easily could have shared 1-2 meals. The scrambles were excellent as was the coffee!

Black Bear Diner is good basic food, in large but tasty quantities. We had breakfast, including cinnamon roll French toast, Trail pancakes (hearty but still good!), breakfast burrito with chorizo, and some egg combinations. Very friendly and prompt service, and quite reasonable prices. Great place for kids!

I was a little worried about the quality when I walked in, but when I saw all the people and a variety of healthy options, my fears were allayed. The service was prompt, the coffee was decent and the food was pretty good. It was definitely not hoity-toity.
