Well, this place seems to be resting on its laurels (sp?--I hate how these web sites have no spell checking!). Kind of a disappointment last night (July 10, 2022). Started off badly when my martini cocktail arrived after the appetizers were already served (this 25...minutes after we arrived, a party of four). The actual appetizers ranged from fabulous: the duck liver mouse and the steak tartar to yuck the corn fritters. Main courses also ranged from good to bad. Two of us ordered the bavette (sp?) steak, it was good but way to many french fries. The steaks were nothing special. Sorry to say that the pork chop was thick, dry, tasteless and, frankly, barely edible. Avoid the pork chop at all costs. One member of our party ordered the $26 salad niscoise (sp?) as her main course. It was served in a soup-like bowl (WTF!) instead of a platter and was really sub-par. Even I could have done better. Do not order this. Our waiter had nothing but bad recommendations so far as the food and the wine were concerned. Nevertheless we tipped him 30%. I am very sympathetic for people in the service industry these days and he was a very pleasant man.More

Unfortunately, this was our least favorite meal of our entire trip. We were promptly seated at our reservation time at a table in the large patio area. Although only a few tables were seated and there were a lot of staff present, we found service...to be extremely slow and had to ask someone to get our server so we could place our order and then again at the end of the meal to pay. As soon as the entrees were put on the table, our server never checked back with us. The food was inconsistent (soup was tasty, but burger was bland and overcooked).More

Wow! We came in for a small bite and wanted to stay all day because of the service and food! The drinks, made perfectly, the food, sumptuous every bite! The service hands down best I have had in a long time. We had the best...in our waiter, Seth, and manger Deidra. Welcoming, beyond efficient, friendly and just the right amount of sass to make to smile! Here for the next three days and sure we will be back for more! Do not allow yourself to miss this hidden gem on the corner of the square!More

We had a wonderful dinner at the girl & the fig. The food was delicious and the drinks were excellent. The hostesses and the servers were charming and professional. The decor is attractive. We dined outside. It was a mob scene on a Monday evening!!!!!...It gets a very attractive clientele. It is beautifully located on the square in the town of Sonoma. We highly recommend the girl & the figMore

We were excited to try this popular restaurant as we had heard that it was supposed to be good. We had reservations and were seated on time. The menu seemed like it was trying too hard with unusual, strange combinations (think artichokes and anchovies). Additionally,...we asked to order a salad and add chicken and were told that they could not accommodate any special requests, even though they had another salad on the menu that had grilled chicken in it. Obviously, they had grilled chicken prepped but were unwilling to put it on a different salad-ridiculous! We had the risotto which was just okay. It seemed to be missing something. Our server told us they were a specialty French restaurant, but isn’t risotto Italian ? Just pretentious! Overall,it was just meh.More

Very good hamburger but not worth $20.00 seriously what's with all these restaurants charging $18 bucks or more for hamburgers that don't standout ? The $11.00 desert was OK nothing to write home about. Service and ambiance was nice.

Several friends recommended we check out the girl and the fig on our trip to Sonoma, and we’re so glad we did! We went for brunch and loved everything about it—from the very friendly staff (all of them—not just our server—were so lovely). The pork...belly hash was nothing short of incredible/it took every ounce of self control for us not to lick the plate! The pancakes with candied bacon crumble and creamy cheese and real maple syrup were a delicious sweet/savory treat. We loved the Fig Royale cocktail, too. We had such a great experience we immediately made reservations to come back for dinner a few days later and weren’t disappointed. The prix fixe menu was a great option (though I wouldn’t choose the optional wine pairing again and would instead just choose a wine by the glass). This place has been a fixture on the Sonoma plaza for a long time for a reason.More

Mushroom risotto and fresh bread was fantastic. Local Grenache wine complemented it well. Great, friendly bartenders with an impressive selection of bourbon that made me feel guilty for drinking wine!

Maybe one of the best restaurants anywhere! As a part time Sonoma resident, I've been coming to the Girl & The Fig for years now. I've never had a bad meal. I've never even had a mediocre meal. The emphasis is on the freshest in-season...local produce prepared beautifully and in a French country style. Pair that with their innovative Rhone and Rhone style wine list (don't ask for Cabernet or Chardonnay!). Let the knowledgeable servers and bartenders steer you toward a wine that will become your new favorite. The dining rooms are charming, the back patio is wonderful on warm evenings, but know that the locals eat at the bar where you'll probably rub shoulders with a local winemaker whose product is on the menu.More

Really happy this iconic Sonoma eatery reopened in time for our wine week get away. Ate here about 16 years ago and never forgot it, with good reason. Last time it was the cassoulet, this time the duck confit ( went with the double, so...glad) which my husband declared his favorite ever duck- and he’s picky about his duck. It had a Smokey goodness, beautiful crisp skin, fall off the bone. The smoked pork cheeks and gnocchi were similarly delicious, paired with Carol Shelton Carignane and County Line Syrah. Creamy tart Lemon curd with orange croutons and Blood orange reduction for dessert. Happy to say, this place hasn’t changed at all!More

It's always a good idea to call and make a reservation. It's a VERY popular restaurant, and more so during "crush" (grape harvest). That said, my friend and I were able to walk in twice and get a seat at the bar. Enjoy!
