The Solvang Restaurant (known to local's as "Arnie's" is THE place to go in Solvang for authentic aebelskiivers -- a traditional Danish confection akin to a donut, shaped like a ball. For those on the go, the Solvang restaurant has window service, where one may purchase aebelskiivers to go on the sidewalk. Locals also appreciate breakfast and lunch offerings, which... More

American and Danish specialties. Enjoyed great split pea soup and wonderful salads, and a yummy pastrami sandwich. And, of course, the fabulous ableskiver Danish pancakes in syrup and powdered sugar for dessert. A real treat and a favorite in Solvang!

If you have been told to find the delectable delight known as "abelskiver", sprinkled with powder sugar, with a spot of raspberry preserves to rocket you to heavenly heights, then you are at the right place!

We were told this place is the famous spot for Aebleskiver, a Danish treat similar to a pancake, served with raspberry preserves and powdered sugar. We did the touristy thing and stopped in to find out what all the hype was about. Well, all I can do to describe this is to compare it to baked, raw pancake dough. It... More

Good old plain home style meals. Had the Swedish sausage and meatball mash and veg. Nothing fancy just good solid fill up you up grub. Didn't have room for the pudding.

We only waited 5 minutes on a Sunday for lunch. Attentive service, very reasonable prices. Mainly diner type foods with Danish influence.

We had started at the Red Viking Restaurant two doors down where we were seated and then completely ignored for 20 minutes. We left and came to the Solvang Restaurant, and we're pleasantly surprised! We were seated immediately and offered drinks. We ordered the Abelskivers and Danish sausage. Our waiter was attentive. The food came promptly and was delicious. We... More

After feeding the ostriches and emus at Ostrich Land USA, we decided to feed ourselves and headed to Solvang. Lots of cute windmill buildings, european architecture, shops and restaurants. Never seen so many bakeries selling Danish Pastries. The food here was great! Must try the aebleskiver, which is a Dutch jam-filled donut aka pancake ball.
