A very good place for Japanese food with a nice atmosphere. It has been in the Valley a long time and has improved over the years. Good service.

Went the other night. Huge menu and separate menu for sushi appetizers. I had the Shrimp Tempura which was very nice and filling. The friend rice was so-so. Others at the table ordered lots of sushi and were not disappointed. Overall, nice evening, great atmosphere. Next time will try the hibachi tables.

They are empty on a Friday night, which doesn't look good for them. But we could certainly understand why. The interior is run down - the carpet old and stained, several broken pieces of decor; Their food wasn't worth the price - BlueFin (Madera St and Royal St - South East side of Simi) might be a couple of dollars... not the best, nor worst of Japanese food. the beef teriyaki isn't bad , but it is chewy. We have been here dozens of times. always is chewy or slightly chewy. Tempura is good. Love the miso. teppan has been hit and miss. couple times good. last time we were squashed into a table and it made it uncomfortable. food... More

It was my wife's birthday and I made reservations for 5 adults and one child. We ate in the side where the food was cooked in front of us. The chef was great, funny and a good cook. There were 4 different dinners ordered from meat to scallops, and everyone was well satisfied. Even with the leftovers that we took... More

They have great food but TERRIBLE service. I used to live here and would sometimes dine here 3 x a week. They are very rude now. I asked some friends in town and they told me they don't eat there anymore due to the way they were treated. With so many dining options I am very surprised that this wouldn't... More

The food is excellent at Ken of Japan. The only negative is that they are seriously understaffed. But the reason I keep returning to this restaurant is the Sake Bomb Special. $8 buys you a huge beer and a large hot sake, what a great deal! I cannot name another restaurant where you can get that tipsy off of $8.... More
