Petite Fancy Burrito Dinner

Fajita delight

Delicious prawn fajita platter, It would have easily fed two & I probably shouldn't have eaten the whole thing, but I did it was that good! Sal's exceeded my expectation.

Absolutely delish!

We had dined at Sals while in CA two years ago (we are from OK) and thoroughly enjoyed it! We liked it so much we ate here twice while here this time before leaving to go back home!!

Regular stop coming home from Shaver Lake

Service is exceptional. James’ Special and Fish Tacos are our favorites. Salsa is especially good!! Highly recommend!

Average Mexican food

After reading the reviews we were excited to try a local Mexican restaurant. Being from Texas we are used to excellent Mexican food. This place was very average. First the positives, great customer service, located in an older neighborhood, good salsa/chips. Two of our dishes were not very good and were swimming in sauces that you typically don't see with some of these dishes. The chimichanga was pretty good but not the best.

Crappy Atmosphere So So Food

I'm totally baffled as to why this is so well reviewed. The space is very strange, the tables are very crowded and there's not a single window in the entire place. There was a single toilet for the entire restaurant with a long line the entire time we were there (the other bathroom was out of service. The salsa was decent but the chips were truly horrible and tasted stale. I had the "spare ribs" which were actually quite good but weren't spare ribs, they were more like a beef shoulder or brisket. My girls had bland looking salads that they said were fine but the biggest disappointment was my wife's chimichanga. We paid extra for the carne asada but the chimichanga was almost entirely made up of rice! I'm talking there was only a handful of meat in her entire meal! Hers was essentially a bed of rice with a deep fried tortilla stuffed with rice on top of it! We were looking forward to Margaritas but they only had wine based margaritas. The servers were nice and dinner for 4 was a reasonable $65 with a 20% tip so those were pluses.

When coming home for a visit...Sal's is our first stop!

We have not lived in Selma for decades but we always make sure we get our Sal's fix every time we visit family and we know this is true of many, many other former residents. So, after reading some of the less than positive reviews I was sad and decided to remove emotions from the situation. So, yes, Sal's is in a neighborhood, not a business area and the parking lot may give new customers a little concern, but fear not, you will be fine. Yes, the noise of lots of people enjoying the great food and company can be deafening, so go for good times, not an intimate date. Do you have to wait for a table quite awhile on weekends? Everything great is worth waiting for. We have lived in eight different cities in two states and always compare new Mexican Resturants in those places to Sal's and rarely do they come close as far as the food. The Fancy Burrito was always a favorite but as we got older the spices were too much so a simple switch to the green chili one made us big fans again. Their party platters plus take out beans and rice and saved many family parties. GO SAL'S!

If you order the flour taco you wont be sorry. Two people can eat it and get full. Fancy burritos are huge too

The best Mexican Reataurant in California’s Central Valley!

My husband and I travel through Selma every 2-3 weeks. Our dinner stop is always at Sal’s! The chips and salsa and service are outstanding! My favorite meal is the fish tacos dinner and my husband’s is James’ Special. Highly recommend!

This is enough for two of us to split.. the chilli is sometimes hotter than others. We ask for have cheese and still get plenty. Haven’t had anything bad here.

Groups pay more

Our motorcycle group meets monthly for a dinner social. I called and made a reservation for 12. She was up front and told me there would be an 18 percent service charge/tip added. I told the group when they arrived so we were aware. Considering the food and service it was worth the 18 percent, I just don't like things added. I understand, I just think they hurt themselves. Except for that the place was fine, food was good and they were helpful and friendly. Recommend

Simple and really good

A colleague and I were to overnight in Reedley. Heading from 99 just on dusk, we called up reviews and found Sal’s a little off our path. The experience starts by finding it - it is like driving in to someone’s backyard. But it was worth the drive. Food was authentic, reasonably priced, generous in its portions and really flavorful. The servers were very attentive and pleasant. The setting is simple and a bit noisy - but I’d definitely go back!
